Baby has arrived!

Trying
Okay, I am trying to stay out of bed long enough to type this lol. I have my c-section scheduled for March 28, but I might have to have it earlier if my blood pressure stays high or gets worse. It was high at my last appointment...perhaps that's because they left me sitting out in the waiting room for TWO hours!!!! Finally I went and asked when I would get in, turns out they had just "overlooked" me! How infuriating. So I told the doc perhaps that's why my bp was sky high.

I am so excited to have a date for the section, I am excited to see my daughter for the first time, to hold her and kiss her for the first time, first diaper change, first time getting her dressed...everything!! First time breastfeeding of course too, but we discussed supplementing her with formula at first since we want to try to stabilize her sugars (she might have trouble going from my high sugars to hardly any sugars at all since my milk won't be in yet). So our first real feeding together will probably be from a bottle of formula and that's okay.

I was supposed to register at the hospital today but we rescheduled for Tuesday so that I can do double duty and go to my doc's appointment then to the hospital. We're trying to limit our trips to town to give Old Betsy (the van) a break. She sounds less like a van these days and more like an aircraft.....

I am having a hard time believing how tired I am!! Sleeping is such a pleasure, I know now that between the first and third trimesters I wasn't very tired at all lol. I was exhausted the first trimester and it's definitely back now. Sleeping is just soooo nice.....I have to set up an appointment for next week to officially withdraw from classes. Doc gave me a note since he wants to keep my stress level low to nil to help my high blood pressure so that's good, hopefully I can be forgiven the funding I received since the withdrawal is for a medical reason.

I am hoping my regular doc can be present at my c-section, on the 28th his kids are playing hockey out of town so he was saying it might be earlier due to my blood pressure anyway, or just another day so he can be there. He's going to discuss it with the specialist actually doing the surgery. I know that when I am so so nervous and anxious, when I see the doc I've had for ten years I will feel a lot better. He knows my medical history and that I'm a little weird and all that good stuff :)

We have lots to do around here to get ready for Carly's arrival, it's going to be so nice to be all set up. I am still obsessed with getting a better place, but it would be hard to move right now with me so big and tired, so it's probably best to get set up here and just move when we **finally** get our rent-assisted housing. I really have to start pestering them about where I am on the list. It's been a year now, and I want a letter updating my status. The last letter I got was saying I was approved for a one bedroom, and they were supposed to change it to two bedroom since I am expecting a baby, and I haven't received that letter yet. It is just so hard to trust people to do their jobs, and for good reason, a lot of times they don't do them!!!

I am still loving all the reality television :) Time to go to sleep again!!!! I can't help it!!!

Coming soon
I will write a nice long entry soon, I am just so tired tonight, going to eat some soup and go to bed! I put a pic that Pete made for me of all my belly pics up until 33 weeks in the photo album. I think it's so cool to see the progression I think I started at 13 weeks, so there's been a lot of changes. I really appreciate Pete making that for me :)

Goodnight!

Happy
I am very happy to say that we picked up the crib from the lady my parents work with, and it's beautiful! It's a white crib, and in GREAT condition, it looks almost brand new, and the mattress looks exactly like new. It is such a huge load off to have the crib now, Carly will be sleeping in it for a long time--until she's big enough for a princess toddler bed :)

Thanks so much to Gayle for the beautiful crib and to my parents for letting us know about the offer!! :) I will be sure to post a pic when it's all set up, and my friend's mom is going to give us a crib set (sheets and all) with teddy bears and balloons on it, so it will look really cute!

Catch up post
I am so tired lately! So nice and sleepy so that sleeping feels wonderful :) The only issue is my stuffy nose, I swear without that I would be constantly asleep. I've been going to my regular doc every week now, and this past appointment he said we would probably do a c-section at 37-38 weeks. So that's a lot less scary than 36 weeks, and I've adjusted my insulin a couple of times so that my sugars seem to be a lot better. It also helps if after I eat I get up for a bit and do some light activity like dishes or a small walk before I read my sugars. I lost a couple of pounds in the week up to this appointment so he said that's fine, and my blood pressure was a lot better than it has been at 140/80.

I went for a nice lunch with a friend who's also expecting a baby, she's not finding out the gender though can you believe it!! I was so impatient and I could not be happier to finally know that I am likely (90%) having a girl. Our little Carly Grace :) I am getting extremely excited for my babyshower, it's on the 23rd of February, I will be sure to post lots of pics. I got a nice call today from my dad and a lady that they know from work is going to give us a crib! What a nice surprise...I called her and we arranged to pick it up on Friday night. I am just hoping they can find the bolts but if not I'm sure we can order the bolts ourselves. It's a very nice thing for them to do that's for sure and I can't wait to start getting all set up for the baby.

I have seriously considered withdrawing from this semester of classes, to the point where I have discussed it with the school. There may be repurcussions having to do with paying back funding received, but I'm hoping to be exempt from that since it's for medical reasons I would be withdrawing. When I signed up I did not expect to have multiple appointments every week of my pregnancy, along with insulin shots and sugar readings all throughout my day. I am having so much trouble walking now, I walk like I belong in the Guiness book for "least efficient walker". I get tired easily and have to lean against something when I'm out and about.

I also really am focused on getting ready for the baby, I didn't expect that she would be coming two weeks early either, I was planning on probably going overdue with her which would have been fine for school. I know I will have a very hard time attending the last four weeks of school after having had a c-section. I still want to be able to go to school in the future so I hope this doesn't ruin my chances of receiving future funding!! Not much I can do though, especially with all my appointments, I just miss way too much school. The appointments themselves are long with all the sitting and waiting, and also the drive to and from town every time.

Anyway, if I would still be going to the doctor only once a month, and only seeing him, then it would have been much easier. Also if I thought I would still be going for a natural birth and possibly overdue, as it is she is probably going to be born a full month before school is over.....not what I planned but I can't wait to hold her :)

Pete's friend sent us a nice gift for the baby, it's a c.d. with Green Day songs made into baby lullabyes, how sweet! We are going to get a small c.d. player to play for the baby while we are rocking her to sleep or when she first lays in her bassinet/crib. We are so so so lucky for all the baby things people are helping us with, it's really such a generous blessing :)

Grandma Barb gave Carly a cupcake outfit, there's a pic in my photographs, it's pink with a cupcake on the front and also on the bib that came with it, it's so nice and soft and cozy and I just love it. March is still quite quite chilly here so she will need some cozy clothes. Anyway I guess that's it for now, oh yeah I forgot to mention I am loving all the reality television shows on right now!!! I am enjoying Big Brother, Survivor, American Idol, and America's Next Top Model. My daughter will probably learn Spanish from an American Idol contestant rather than any Dora episodes lol.

That's all for now I have three more appointments that I know of next week so I will update then :)
