Baby has arrived!

2008-03-03  (35 weeks)
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it! Pete and I are enjoying listening to the Green Day lullabyes his friend sent for the baby, the songs are familiar and cute since they are adjusted for babies :)
Last night Pete spent a bunch of time moving our desks and computers out into the kitchen so that the computer room can become baby central. We haven't started work on baby central yet but it feel so so nice that we could start anytime :) Baby will be sleeping in our room of course though, since there's no window in baby central.

Things are going well, I made the most delicious roasted chicken, potatoes and carrots today it was such a yummy supper. Then there were some crispy leftover potatoes which I polished off after my evening nap lol. I probably feel rested right now since I napped in the afternoon and the evening! The naps are not too long though since I wake up painfully having to go to the bathroom.

I haven't been up for visiting my sis so I've canceled a few times recently, I would like to try to go over there tomorrow early in the morning but I didn't schedule the visit in advance just in case I feel like crap then I would probably cry since I would be canceling again!!!! I figured I could spend the day over there then go to my doc appointment at 2:45. I also wanted to drop off a letter to the housing office tomorrow, hopefully I get everything done I would like tomorrow.

I would like to work on babycentral this week and perhaps have it pretty much done by the end of this weekend. Pete has agreed to set up Carly's stuff like her pack n play and her bouncy swing before she gets here, which makes me happy! We will also pick up the bolts for our crib out of our next cheque if the lady who gave us the crib can't find them.

We have a very pretty set of three decorative plates to hang in baby central, plus the Anne Geddes calender is up in there, and we want to get the wooden letters spelling Carly painted and put above her crib in our room. I am worried about switching over to maternity benefits since I suspect there will be a delay, like there was last time I had to switch (from sick leave to regular benefits). They have such a good system at the unemployment office.....A GOOD SYSTEM FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!

Anyway, this month is going to be so so so wonderful, getting all ready for our little girl, and hopefully we get some good news from the housing people that we might have a place within the next two to three months (hey a girl can dream right??). It will be perfect since I'll be healed from the c-section by then.

I am so excited to do fun stuff with Carly especially when she' s a toddler, although I was laughing with Pete because if we want to do something like an Easter egg hunt, we might run into an obstacle: our lovely dog Mowski!! I was thinking we could have a hunt with him first where he ends up with lots of doggie treats then he would let Carly have her fun lol we'll see.

Well that's all for now, hopefully my good mood continues, probably was helped along by lots of sleep and nice crispy potatoes :)

Shocker
Wow I just logged in to do a quick entry and I was shocked when the ticker said I'm 34 weeks along! It seems like I just hit the third trimester, really seven weeks have already passed since then. Today was a really emotional day. I just felt really overwhelmed, there's lots of stuff going on and all I wanted to do was eat a sub and go to bed, then I felt like a really bad person for not being all a-type personality and getting all my tasks done.

The past couple of days I have had so much pain in my groin that it was just unbelievable. Pete had to help me up every time, and hold me for a minute while I adjusted to the pain. I think I overexerted myself going out and walking around too much. At the end of a half hour shopping trip I can hardly move a muscle. It seems like the baby is much lower now, so I'm sure that is contributing to the soreness. Today the pain has been better, but I am still trying not to walk too much. At least I can get up by myself today if I really want to!

I have two doctor's appointments next week, I missed my one for this week since I was in too much pain to go anywhere. The night before the appointment I didn't get any sleep, everything hurt too much. I just started crying in bed in the middle of the night because I was so sore! It's more comfy on the couch, I'm not sure why lol. Maybe because it's really soft and there's support from the back of the couch.

March 28 is the day for the c-section as of right now, and tomorrow is March 1! Very exciting, I am just worried about my emotions lately. I can get really sad for no reason and for a good while! I am thinking this is normal for late pregnancy, it's because I want to be superwoman and move mountains to get ready for the baby meanwhile I have a hard time getting up off the couch myself lol.

Anyway, I think I will feel better once things are set up, something that is also on my mind is that I really really really want to move into a rental unit where our rent is reduced. It is such a burden to pay rent that is 50% of your income, let alone having to pay extra to catch up on arrears (sigh). I also have another bill now that has reared it's ugly head and I'm making payments on it every two weeks. The rent reduced unit would just be such a relief and I really hope there's a nice one in our very near future (we've been on the waiting list since March 2007).

That's all for now, please keep us in your thoughts and hope for me that my emotions get under control! I don't like feeling so emotional/sad, I am overjoyed about my little baby, and I don't like tears coming for no reason!

Babyshower was wonderful
February 23, 2008 is a day I will always remember because it was such a wonderful day. First a friend (who is also expecting) and I went out for a light lunch, I had an omelet which was delicious! Then we went to my babyshower, and it was so much fun. There was about fifteen people there, everyone really spoiled our little one. We got tons of beautiful clothes for her (I had a lot of fun that night going through all her outfits and hanging them up). We got a gift certificate which we are going to use towards her stroller, a safety gate, a high chair, a pack n play, a safety monitor set, lots of cozy blankets, cute things like a teddy bear with the letter C on it (for Carly) and some baby Crocs (so cute!!), a really pretty crib set, plus practical stuff like teething rings and socks :)

There were gifts from my sis Cheryl and my Mom, both from out of town, and they were so appreciated :) I had been looking forward to the baby shower food for so long lol, then when I arrived my tummy was upset from being nervous and all the anticipation. After my sis ran across the street to get me some Tums, I felt much much better and was able to enjoy all the food! My favourites were the sausage stars (sausage filling in pastry shells), the tuna and egg salad sandwiches, and the pink and purple frosted cupcakes yum yum!!!! There were also cookies, veggies, marshmallow treats, chocolate treats, fruit and crackers. It was a really good spread and so so delicious :)

We played a couple of fun games, the first one was where no one can say "baby" or they lose their soother, there was one girl there who kept noticing everyone say it especially me lol. Then we played one where the guests put a plate on their heads and have to draw a baby with a crayon, I picked the best one which had all it's limbs a torso and a head, then I picked the funniest one which looked exactly like Snoopy lol. The next game was the memory game where you look at a tray then list what you see, of course I couldn't remember anything! Preggo brain!! There were five pregnant girls at my shower including me, it was special to know that these wonderful ladies are also having babies :)

The presents, food, and games were so much fun. And I was so touched by everyone that came, how nice, they didn't have to do that, and it was so appreciated. My sis was a wonderful hostess, setting everything up and keeping track of who got us what so I can send out thank you cards. Pete stayed for the shower too, which was so nice since I wanted to share this with him. He was great taking pics when we needed him to and it was just nice to have him there. I know Barb and Dad helped out a lot too getting the shower ready and spoiling us, thanks so much guys, Carly is so lucky to have such wonderful family waiting for her xoxoxoxo.

My sis still said she has some baby stuff for us, which is so nice of her, this stuff is expensive! I will be visiting her and my youngest nephew tomorrow afternoon and picking up some items--we are going to be getting all set up for the baby in our apartment this weekend, lots of work coming but I will put up pics to show the progress :)

I'm going out for lunch tomorrow with my friend, I am so excited for her baby shower, both of us are expecting our first babies, she doesn't know what she's having, I kind of hope it's a girl, a ready made friend for my daughter! Of course if she has a boy they can still be great friends. Well I'm going to post this entry now just in case it somehow gets erased which has happened before!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us out so much with baby items and our wonderful baby shower xoxoxoxo
