Hi there...I'm sorry it's taken me awhile to respond to your entry in my journal...Im new at this! I first felt the baby move at 18 weeks. I think I felt him before then but maybe thought it was a gas bubble. Now I am 23 weeks, almost 24 and feel him about every other hour or so. Trust me you will know when they are kicks not flutters, haha! My baby is very active though, the most active my Dr. has seen! He is up all night! IF you have felt him move, I can give you a few tips to make him move more...At least they work for me. He kicks me when I lay on my back or sit leaning forward. He also kicks when I take a deep breath of air or drink OJ...He's kicking right now...Good luck, yours will kick ya soon enough!
YEs we are living in Goose Creek now bc my husband is in the Navy. I am from Maryland though and he is from Seattle, Wa.
Sorry to hear that you are so tired and not getting enough rest. Don't worry, you will get the hang of it. I do the following with the pillow. I lie on my side, place one regular pillow beyond my back for support and then one smaller pillow in front of me and place only part of it (bottom) under the gap between my naval and hip. I then bend which ever leg is at the top and lean a little bit forward. This way it almost feels like I'm sleeping on my tummy, but I'm not as the pillow in front supports my body. I used to sleep on my tummy and found it extremely hard to find a position to sleep comfortably.
I hope this helps a little, don't worry, you will get it right.
I read your journal and saw that you are still very tired. This comes and goes. I have noticed that with myself I feel more tired when I eat things like bread, pasta and sugary things. I have been eating protein in the morning like scrambled egg and cottage cheese and then I find that I have more energy. I leave the starches and pastas for night time ;)
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You must be very excited! Hope you get more rest over the weekend.
I'd kill for a kick. All my reading material says "16-20 weeks." One of the books suggested the first movement would feel like hunger pains. Which is funny since one hungry more often when pregnant.
We're scheduled for a ultrasound in early January. In the meantime, I am feeling out of touch with the little one downstairs. So I take heartburn and the other awful symptoms as reassurance. I like to think he/she disagreed with my choice of food - based on taste. I've also taken to shielding his/her "eyes and ears" around adult conversations.
Its these small actions that keep me patient!

Hey Mandy! I'm at 16 and 1/2 weeks today (12/13/05). I'm also in the same boat with you. Every now and again I think I feel slight movement, but then nothing. I too am a worrier at heart, and I'm notorious for driving my husband crazy with questions (Is everything okay? Is our baby still in there? Do you think something has happened? Is the baby going to be healthy?). I want a strong kick from our baby for assurance. And, my last ultrasound was about 4 weeks ago as well. So, I can definitely empathize with your feelings. However, I'm sure your baby is perfectly normal and healthy. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and wish you well. Keep us all updated with your baby news. I'm anxious to find out when you feel movements.
Mandy, it is perfectly normal for you to worry about your baby. I am the biggest worrier. This is my second pregnancy and with my first I was feeling movement around 16 weeks and really strong kicks by week 20. Well, this pregnancy has been totally different. I have felt little taps starting around 18 weeks but then I would go days without feeling anything. I am almost 22 weeks now and finally have started feeling true kicks. But the movement is still not as I had expected at this stage. 4 weeks between appointments is tourture!!!! LOL. I am the same as you. I get so worried between appointments to hear the baby's heartbeat and make sure that everything is ok. As soon as I do, I am fine for a week or two, then I get worried all over again. I am sure you will be feeling really good movement by 20 weeks. God Bless and I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Hey Mandy,
I got your message in my guest book. Well, to answer your question, I felt the baby kicking in the middle of my belly just nelow the belly button. I felt her head on the left side of my belly. Like I described in my journal, I started to get worried because I am almost 22 weeks and haven't felt it yet...until last night. Since you are 16 weeks along, you might still have some time, so don't worry. Everybody told me I would feel something like butterflies in my belly. I don't know...I did not feel that. Only felt the actual kicking last night. Maybe I was just not able to to actual recognize the moving before...when it was still butterflies.
I also wnated to say, that it was so sweet of your husband to write such a nice message in your blog. He must be a real romantic...a keeper. Good luck with your pregnancy! Nadine

Hello all, this is Mandy's husband Jared. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful wife and a beautiful baby on the way. My wife gets better looking by the day and is a joy to watch as pregnancy changes her into an increasingly fascinating woman. For everything you were and every thing you are now, I love with all my heart. I am proud to call you my wife and the mother of our child.
