Baby has arrived!

2008-06-21  (20 weeks)
20 weeks.

Halfway there.  Today we've lived in Oxford for a whole year, and who would've thought a year ago, that today I'd be 20 weeks pregnant.  So bizarre, but I'm lovin' it.    Anyway, I'm still feeling pretty good.  This last week I feel like I've had a lot more energy - yay!  And all of a sudden I feel like cooking again.  Thank goodness.  I do however still get sick on occassion.  Sometimes because of nasty smells, but other times for no apparent reason.  That is one pregnancy symptom I will be happy to see go.  It's not often, but still probably once a week.  ICK!  Aside from that, I feel like this week is the first week that I'm actually starting to "show".  And I've been having a lot of round ligament pain to remind me of that fact.  But that's relatively bearable.  Just a little achy and annoying.  Life's a bit hectic - 6 days to the scan and 9 until Jake leaves, so we have lots to get done before he goes.  Other than that, alls well!

19 weeks

Well, Jake's back from Paris - Yay!  But I only have two weeks before he leaves for Les Houches.    So we've sort of settled into our flat - just in time to start packing to get into the new one.  13 days until we find out the sex of the baby.  4.5 weeks until my birthday.  6 weeks until I leave for Les Houches.  7 weeks until we leave for Montreal.  8 weeks until we're home in Maine!  (woot!)  9 weeks to my baby shower.  11 weeks until we're back in Oxford (and in our new flat).  And 21 until my due date.  Ahhh.

Overall, I'm feeling pretty good.  I did do a henna treatment on my hair last week, and spent an entire day sick or on the verge of sick from the very strong smell of my hair.  Ick.  But now I have shiny dark locks.    Other than that - not much is new.  I'll post a pic taken this morning of my "bump".  It's so tiny, but it's there.  Squint a bit, you might see it.

17+1 Weeks : )

So much is going on!  We've officially moved, just down the road, but moved none the less.  Last night was our first night in our new flat and today was spent trying to settle things a little.  Jake leaves early tomorrow morning at 2 a.m. for Paris, and I'll be all alone until Friday!  Gasp!!  But then on Friday I get to go Paris for the weekend as well.  Yay!  Anyway...baby stuff.  Well, I got the results back from my triple test, and my chances of a baby with downs/spina bifida is 1 in 2700.  Anything lower than 1 in 400 is cause for further testing, so I'm in the free and clear.  I'm starting to feel more pregnant all the time, and some of my jeans are getting a bit tight.    I'm hoping to hold out on buying any maternity clothes until I'm back in the states in August...but we'll see if I can hold out that long.  And speaking of going back to the states, we officially have tickets.  Yay!  We arrive in Montreal on the 3rd of August and fly out of Boston on the 31st.  Woot!  Such a busy summer ahead.  Anyway, just checking in.......

Heartbeat
I had a quick appointment with the midwife today.  It was to have some routine bloodwork done to check for Downs Syndrome and other defects.  I have this enormous blue booklet of notes I'm supposed to lug to all my appointments (I suppose to save on filing space) and I had forgot it at home!  So I rung Jake and asked him if he'd go get them and meet me at the Dr's.  And I'm so glad he did, because after my blood was drawn she asked if we wanted to try and hear the heartbeat again.  We had tried at the booking appointment, but the munchkin was not cooperative.  But today we heard it loud and strong - until the batteries in the doppler died - but we heard it none the less.    And I think I may have felt the baby.  Once a couple days ago on the bus, and then again this afternoon.  It's so brief and gentle, it seems so hard to tell - but soon enough it will be unmistakable.  And everything was fine.  My blood pressure, no protein, and my weight was down a bit, which is fine too.  And tomorrow I'll be 16 weeks.  Madness!
