Baby has arrived!

We're off to the hospital
We're off to the hospital this morning for the induction of Ms. Zoe!!  Not sure how long this will take, but hoping not too long.  Please keep us in your prayers!!

Induction Follow-up

Today's appointment turned out to be a pretty good one.  I dilated some more since Friday (almost 4cm, at least per this doc) and was booked for induction (if needed) on May 12th.  The doctor tried to schedule me for this week, but the hospital was booked.  We are on "stand-by" in the event one of the scheduled inductions/c-sections is cancelled this week, otherwise it is Monday (or hopefully sooner!).  The doctor expressed serious doubts about me making it to Monday; however, I reminded him that he didn't think I would be still pregnant two weeks ago.  He thought that was funny...NOT!!

Anyhoo, we're still playing the waiting game but at least the time is finite now.  Zoe could still show on Zander's birthday (May 7th), as my mom has predicted, which is something of a next "milestone" to pass at this point.  I feel like we should have set up a birthday pool or something.  It would have made this waiting business a bit more fun at least...

Off for a walk around the neighborhood!  Will keep everyone posted :)

40 Week Visit

So, although last week the doc had conveyed his doubts we'd make it, sure enough we had our 40-week visit yesterday.  I was rather depressed to find out that I had not dilated any further since the last visit.    I did find out that I am about 50% effaced (a question I never remembered to ask, but so many people ask me).

Anyhow, my bottom line need to know from the doctor was how much longer MUST I endure this pregnancy.  Her assessment was that we'd look at the induction option if things hadn't progressed by next Friday.  I have an appointment on Monday for another look-see and to discuss induction options/plans/etc.  Unfortunately, this next appointment is with the doc that gave me false hope we'd have this baby by now, so I'm concerned I might be a little less than polite.  Marc is coming along, so I guess he can buffer any explosions for me.

While all this waiting is certainly a test of my patience, I am motivated by the "prize" at the end.   Plus, Zander and I have had all sorts of fun this past week and now have a few more days to pack in some more play dates/mommy and me adventures before his sister arrives.  We've been reading a great book called, "The New Baby at Your House," by Joanna Cole, and I think it is really helping him understand what to expect when Zoe comes home.  Ever since, he has been using his Barney as a pretend Zoe, wrapping him in a blanket, changing his diaper, and (most hilarious) pretending to nurse him!  He is really excited about becoming a big brother, which is awesome.

Okay, that's all for now.  I'll post an update on Monday (or sooner, God willing!).

Waiting

While I am happy to report that Zoe held off on coming during Zander's birthday party, I am now more anxious than ever for her to come on out!!  My mom has been saying she is going to come on Zander's birthday (May 7th), but I think I'd have to whine a lot to my docs to induce me if we don't see her on my due date (May 3rd).  If I make it to Friday, I have a doctor appointment and can start campaigning then.  Jeanne has a new guess of May 2nd (since 5/May +2=7...my family is sure we are having a "7")...I like her predictions much better...now if they'd just come true!!  :)

In the mean time, I am working from home now and trying to get out for walks as much as possible.  It's a little tough with my feet being blown up like balloons and not being able to be far from a bathroom, but I am compelled.  I posted some pics Marc took of me the middle of last week, so everyone can see just how large I've gotten.  Two check-out ladies recently asked me if I was having twins!  Of course I was polite; however, I wanted to say, "No, just one baby.  When is yours due?", so they could reflect on their own "junk in the trunk!"

Anyhoo, that's all for now.  Hopefully, my next posting will be that we are on our way to the hospital!!
