Katherine Louise Vonnegut
Our little Katie has arrived! At 10:26 am on Sunday the 21st via c-section. The procedure went pretty well, just a small reaction to the anaesthesia when it made my blood pressure drop to fast. When they were ready to start Mike came in, he watched the whole procedure, it only took about 15 minutes to get her out. Mike then was with Katie for the rest of the procedure. She was taken to a warming table for her measurements and Mike cut her cord. The two of them went back to our room to wait for me. After I was sewn up they moved me back to the room for two hours of recovery and to hang out with Mike and Katie. Next we were taken to our hospital room and my parents came up to meet their grandaughter. I was on bed rest for the next day. We all got to visit and learn how to do all the fun stuff like diapers, feeding and burping.

Mike got to do all the work since I was and still am unable to lift her very easily. Our second day I got to walk around and was put on solid food again. Walking was very challenging and I learned that there is some air that is in my chest cavity that cause shoulder pain (a fairly common side effect). We slowly have been working on getting me moving more and getting to know Katie. Finally today they removed my stomach staples and this afternoon they let us come home. we made it home and have been happily relaxing here since.

C-Section
We had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment today. At the ultrasound they verified that the baby has not turned. Her head is still up by my ribs, she is sitting on my bladder and she was playing with her feet. She has a lot of hair and chubby cheeks, we were able to see her face today, she was practice breathing, opening and closing her mouth and even stuck her tongue out a few times. When they checked her size the tech said she is over eight pounds, but  two weeks ago they said six pounds. They then told us that her being breech could really affect the measurements, it being less accurate on breech babies.

Next we went to the doctor. He had the ultrasound results and got right to the exam. She is still measuring good but is just straight up and down, no hint of turning. I am also still completely closed up, no sign of her trying to come out. The doctor then discussed with us delivering her on Sunday morning. We are not busy so we agreed. The doctor then went down the hall and spoke with the surgery scheduler then sent us to talk to her. We were then scheduled for surgery on Sunday at 10am. We also had to go through all of the pre-op and post-op stuff and a lot of paperwork. Because of the late hour tonight we have to go back and do the blood work  tomorrow. On Sunday morning we will be at the hospital at 8am and if all goes well we will be released on Wednesday, Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, our weekend to get ready was brought down to a day but it is exciting to know that she will soon be here! I am going to scan the new ultrasound pictures and put them up here tonight.

Breech Update
So we had our 37 week appointment today and mostly wanted to get the update on the breech situation. After telling the dr that the baby was breech he went and looked at our records and came back more serious. He didn't like the option of trying to manually turn her since she is my first baby. So c-section is the other option. She has until my appointment next Friday to turn, they will do an ultrasound and if she has not turned they will schedule a c-section for Monday the 22nd. They worry is that she will start to come out breech and they dont want that to happen. The baby has ten days to turn. Other than that everything looks good with her size, my blood presure and all that. I will keep everyone update!
