D-day (due date) is just two months from tomorrow. Needless to say I feel the countdown is getting ready to begin. I am starting to just feel the pressure of the fact that there will soon be a baby arriving and we have stuff to do. I am glad the classes are done, that really helped me feel prepared. Mike and I still practice the breathing we learned and I am sure that will continue to increase as we get closer since we both want this to go as natural as possible.

We don’t have much “stuff” yet, but I am not too worried about that (baby shower is coming up this weekend!) plus if we don’t get much that’s ok, does a newborn really need much? Just somewhere to sleep, some clothes to wear, oh and diapers… lots of diapers (about 12 a day I am told) and I am totally getting ready to get on the “getting some diapers project”. I even had a strange dream that I suddenly had the baby when I woke up one day and was calling Mike to get some diapers on his was home because the baby came and the cloth ones were too small, so it has been on my mind.

The only major changes I have noticed she is moving A LOT more. She moved a lot before but now it is even crazier, she is very active and is probably starting to run out of room. People are saying I finally look pregnant which is a good thing. Sleeping is getting harder, just because moving is difficult, rolling over in bed…yeah not a pretty sight. The only other change I have noticed is I am getting tired again, this shouldn’t be a surprise considering the weight I am carrying around and all the energy being used here in the home stretch where she is pretty much just growing and growing. Keep checking back and I will keep updating our progress!

It’s coming to the point where we should start narrowing down names for the little girl (actually its something we have been discussing for awhile). We have a few floating around that we like but nothing is for sure yet. Mike and I have very different ideas of what a name should be. I tend to prefer older more classic names that have meaning to me, while Mike does not like those at all, he tends to like more common what I see as “plain” names. You also have to be careful naming the baby after people you have known or met in the past. Some names just remind you of that one person, that one time or the strange girl in middle school and you just do not want the thought of being reminded of that for the rest of your life. I don’t think naming a child after a friend is a good idea either, unless it is something that has real meaning. Family names are important to me, I like to see the carrying on of a good name through the family history. .

Its probably better that it’s a girl because I think a boy would have been even more of a challenge for us. Not only does the baby need a first name but a middle name as well which is a whole other can of worms to open. I think its one of those things where I need to see her to know what her name will be, until then we will just keep floating ideas around and not commit to anything just yet. We call her “baby” and I think that will work just fine till she gets here.
