Weeks 1-13 Week 13: First midwife apointment this week...! hope I can hear the heartbeat again!!
Week 12: Yay, finally it's time to tell the good news. Told my boss at a course earlier in the week. At work on Friday I got to spread the good news to everyone. Lot's of excitement and everyone was so nice and happy for me. It's such a relief to reveal this secret.
Week 11: Feeling good.
Week 10: Told a couple more co-workers and friends.
Week 9: no more cramps!! Freedom!!!
Week 8: Cramping is easy up now. Feeling better. Ultrasound apointment at 8 1/2 weeks. Larry couldn't go because he was working. Technician told me my bladder was too full (oh, that's why I'm in so much pain!). She told me to empty half my bladder. Half...ha ha...I thought exactly how am I going to know that I let out half?? After I came back she said my bladder was still too full but she could go on...that's good...because if I had to empty it again...it was all or nothing!
The ultrasound showed a small baby moving all around! The heartbeat was detected at 147 bpm . That was so exciting! It's a very strange thing hearing a heartbeat coming from your stomach. Tech says "oh, it's moving around, how cute". I laughed and I could see my belly moving the baby all around! It felt so good to see the baby. I should have asked for a picture. Feeling much, much better today.
Week 7: Still cramping. Started taking acidophilus.
Week 6: Still cramping. Went back to doctor. Doc thinks it's an intestinal problem but orders another ultrasound and a blood test. Blood work comes back postive. HCG levels are rising. Started telling all my close friends.
Week 5:
Around the time my period was due I started having bad PMS cramps. I figured "Aunt Flo" was just late so I didn't think to take a test b/c it was only day 30 or so and so I was only about 5 days overdue. I figured I would wait until 7 days before I took a test. However, the cramping didn't get better, it got worse and worse and still Aunt Flo did not show. I took a pregnancy test but it didn't work (later I found out it was expired). So, I went to the doctor first thing on the Friday, September 28th. The doc did a test but he said it was "inconclusive". Because I had been through this before (thinking I was PG and I wasn't) I wasn't surprised and thought that he just meant it was negative. He ordered an ultrasound. I tried to get an appointment but I couldn't get in for weeks anywhere. The cramps continued throughout the day so Jackie suggested I call up the hospital. So, I did. I asked them if they would take me in because the abdominal pain was so bad. Miraculously , they squeezed me in for an appoitment that day. They tech didn't see anything on the ultrasound (nothing that she would share with me) so I figured I probably wasn't pregnant. Larry was working the night shift so I told him I'd call him if the cramps got worse and I would go to Emerg. They did! So, i went to emerg at 11:30pm by myself. I waited around for hours in an oddly empty waiting room. It seemed like I was the only one there and people would walk in to emerg and get treated right away while I sat there all alone! Finally they took me in. I did another urine test and waited once again. The doctor finally showed up and sat down and asked me a couple questions. I told him about the abdominal pain and how excruciating it was....he said, oh, could it be ...because...you're pregnant! I didn't believe him and I said...are you sure because we tried for years and I never got pregnant. He confirmed it on his chart again...You're Tina Thiessen? Yep, you're pregnant. I was in complete shock! He didn't seem too concerned about the pain and said to hold out until Monday when the results of the ultrasound would come back. I drove home and called Larry at work right away. I said: "I'm pregnant". He laughed. I laughed. We both laughed. Crazy!
Week 1- 4: Oblivious to the fact that we were making a baby ;)
