Isabella kicked me!

Last night I was spending some quality time with Isabella and my pillow.  I was laying in bed and Bella was all sorts of active!  She started thumping me, so I put my hand on my tummy and pushed in a bit, just to see if I could feel it.  Well...turns out she kicked me HARD and I felt it!  I cannot believe that my little one is already strong enough to kick me so that I can feel it from the outside!  Such an amazing (and very weird/creepy!) sensation.

I felt really, really close to her last night!  It's crazy that she can now communicate it with in her own little special way.

I love my daughter!!

It's a GIRL!!

My 19 week appointment was this past Tuesday, March 5th.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect -- would we get an ultrasound?  Would they try to tell us the gender of our little baby?

My appointment was at 3:30.  Sean and my sister met me there and off we went.  I did the usual: weight, blood pressure check, urine sample.  Unfortunately, my blood pressure was up (that'll teach me to do late afternoon appointments) but my weight gain was once again awesome:  only 1 pound over the last 4 weeks for a total of 5 pounds gained thus far! YAY!!

Next, we were put in our room (I say "our room" because I've been in the same room for each and every one of my appointments.  Oh...and this room just happens to have the ultrasound machine in it!!).  Nurse comes in and listens/measures the heartbeat.  Our little one is VERY active.  She was flipping around and her heartbeat went from the 150's to low 160's, down to the 130's (that's when she flipped) back up to the 150's again.  Our nurse was laughing at how active she was!

Next the doctor comes in.  First thing she says is, "So...do we want to know the sex of your baby?"  All three of us said, in unison, "YES!"  So the ultrasound begins!!

We got some great looks at our baby...and then the money shot came.  Dr. Jurney got a perfect little shot of her bottom, spread legs and all.  It took a minute, but before too long it became clear: we were looking at the most wonderful three little lines you could ever hope to see!  And then came the most melodic words: "Looks like you are having a little girl!".  I looked over at Sean and he was absolutely BEAMING!  In fact, it was as if you could hear the angels singing.  He was simply on cloud nine!  He wanted a little girl soooooo bad!

The visit wrapped up and we headed out.  "Big" ultrasound is still scheduled for 3/15, although it won't be so "big" now since we know its a "she".

Baby's First Kicks!

I'm a little late posting this journal entry (busy week!) but...on Tuesday, February 26th, I felt my very first baby kicks!  They felt more like "thumps" on the inside of my tummy, but there is no question that what I felt was our little munchkin!

It was about 4:45 in the afternoon and I was sitting at my desk. I guess I must have been sitting still for quite a while and Baby A decided to make sure I was awake!  I felt three little thumps, about 20 seconds apart.  Then, about a minute or so later I felt a fourth thump.  It took me a second to realize what it was, but I'm certain that I felt our baby say hello for the first time!

Since then, I've felt some pretty odd sensations.  Nothing as distinct as what I felt on Tuesday, but I know I have been feeling our little one moving around in my tummy!

Modest baby...

Today was our 15 week appointment.  Good news is that I've only gained 1 lb. since our last appointment 4 weeks ago (have no idea how that happened given that I've been eating like you-know-what over the last month or so), but I was very happy with the scale!

Our appointment started with a listening of the heartbeat.  It was fast and strong which was a very good thing.  Then the nurse practitioner came in (I saw her today and not my regular doctor) and she said, "Why don't we just take a peek at your little baby" -- they weren't planning on doing an ultrasound -- so we were thrilled!

Immediately, we could see our little baby hanging out.  He/she was using my uterus as a trampoline, jumping off of my tummy!  It was hysterical!  The doctor tried for about 20 minutes to get our baby to flip over or open its little legs so she could sneak a peek as to the gender...but Baby Aguilar was having none of that!  Our little baby kept its little legs closed tight the entire time!  HA!  Looks like we have a headstrong one on our hands!!  So...looks like we'll be waiting a few more weeks to find out if we've got a Gabriel or Isabella!  I kept joking that we must be having a girl because a little boy wouldn't be so modest!!

Speaking of gender...our "big" ultrasound is scheduled for March 15th.  Hopefully Baby A will cooperate on that day and we'll know once and for all what we are having.
