2nd ultrasound (and Uncle Ad's b-day!): 2:45pm
DH got to come in with me the whole time. as soon as she put the screen up, the baby was facing us and waved to us. that was pretty neat! hi mom and dad! baby - you were very squirmy and the tech had a hard time getting a picture of you for the NT test (check for downs syndrome). that's okay though b/c we got to see you for longer - just hopefully it didn't hurt your hearing. Dad wanted a picture where you looked like an alien... sorry! that's your dad :) so we got 2 print outs...the "alien" one, and a cute one where you have your hand on your forehead, like "it's exhausting getting my picture taken!" i wanted one with your hands or feet in it. The tech finally got a few images and took some measurements for the test. i'll have to double-check the form but i think you measured .12, which she said is normal (therefore, good!). i asked her how you're progressing/growing, and she said she could tell just by looking at you that you're growing. anyway, no tears this time, but we were so happy to be able to see you again! (can't wait for November!!! :) You measure 7.5 cm from crown to rump. Your heartbeat this time is 166 bpm. i'm pretty sure that's still really good. i'm guessing it's slower cuz you're growing.
i also had to get bloodwork done. just 2 viles this time... my arm really hurt afterwards this time too.

3rd prenatal appt.: 1:15pm
this was fun. i rushed to get to my appt...got stuck behind an excavator going down river rd for a bit...30km! when i got there, i parked the car, and tried to take off my sweater really quick, threw it on the car seat and ended up not realizing my keys were under it until i locked and shut the door already. locking keys in the car...now isn't that a common pregnant woman thing to do! i tried calling DH at home on the cell and grandpa but no answer...i tried calling DH's work number too but before i could get to his extension, my phone dies! i bug the receptionist to dial 2 numbers...home, and grandpa's and i left messages at both. then i had to pee, which the receptionist didn't say anything about a urine test. in the washroom, i tried my cell again and got ahold of DH for long enough to tell him what i did. grandpa came by when he got the msg and i was still in the waiting room...it had already been about 1hr and 1/2. so i showed him the u/s pictures...and said DH should be here any minute now, so grandpa went out and came back with my keys. i'm sure i looked like a dork to everyone, but who cares really :) FINALLY the nurse calls me.... 2hrs of waiting! i weighed in at 101lbs. (finally a woman! as my grandma's mother in law would have said). told my doc i'm still getting nausea. he put me on diclectin...cute little pills with pictures of a pregnant lady on them! but i'm not so sure they're really helping me yet... next week i might have to up the dosage. (i can take 2 at once... and no more than 3 a day should ever be necessary) he said they're completely safe too...which i hope so, but who really knows?! my doc could feel my uterus...right above my pubic bone...and said you should be moving up and up and probably at my belly button i think by week 16 (so i should be experiencing those changes very soon)
baby's due date predicted as Nov 2 by my doctor.

hair appt: 5pm
told my hair dresser, and asked her opinion about highlights. she said it's up to me, but it is the fumes that could affect the baby. i decided not to risk it. i've tried to be so good...why risk anything? she said b/c i still have some blond that the sun might lighten up my roots and it'll blend in a little bit better...although, it's fairly natural looking right now anyway, so no big deal. and next time i could get low-lites which doesn't have the ammonia in it, but still has an odour...not near as bad though. so i just got a trim, seeing as the last time i was there was the end of november!!!

at the office...
went home for lunch and phoned my manager to tell her... she sounded happy at first, congrats and thanks for telling her, and when am i due, have i been getting sick.... and then it just got quiet. i was like "soooo i guess i'll be talking to you in a little bit (conference call in an hour and 1/2), sooo i'm going to let you goooo) ya, awkward.
back at work, neighbours across the hall were painting and it stunk. i didn't want to be a snot and ask them to stop....

wrote the neighbours across the hall a pleasant note to see if they could limit my exposure to the fumes.
and now to get some work done!....
2008-04-27 (13 weeks)
yesterday's crib adventures i don't recommend sears - they are soooo dumb. the one we wanted was in the catalogue...no, in THREE of their catalogues! it's made by Simplicity and the model was "Ellis." so first DH and i went there to try to order it and they said it was discontinued. we went to my parents for dinner, and then we went to the Toys R Us website while we were there and noticed they had that same crib we wanted and it said "NEW" so my parents, and DH & I went to Toys R Us and we mentioned that crib that we had wanted and saw on their website, and they said it's techincally not discontinued...they just changed the model name - to "Sydney!" it's PERFECT! haha! anywho, it's on major backorder, so hopefully we'll be able to get it sooner than later. (oh ya, and we even went back to Sears cuz we thought they could get it in still - we have gift cards for there that we wanted to use, that's why we were so persistent with sears...anyway they made us call the direct line to their head office, and the guy said they couldn't order in anything that wasn't in their catalogue. dumb)
...and we have to get it in Black, cuz Cherry was a little too red. i'm a little bummed...DH is happy...but i'd definitely rather have the black than the cherry... just gotta find some cute bedding that matches good.
anywho, time to toilet paper my co-worker's desk! MUAH HA HAAAA

what's new... so my belly's getting bigger. i'm finding my mat pants a little more comfy than my jeans now... i think i'm transitioning slowly here.
i never finished my car story...on the monday, the guy wanted his money back basically cuz he was told the car was a write-off...which, he knows the owner of the shop so i figured he could easily be b-s-ing us, even though he offered for DH to go have a look. anyway, DH and i were worried that we'd end up only getting $150 / $200 out of it and have the car towed to the scrap yard, but the guy came by monday at lunch and said he'd split us the money cuz they're gonna need to put in a lot of work (and he had the quote in his hands too), so that was fine, we were happy with it cuz really it could work out both ways...maybe we win out, or maybe it works out for them too. and plus, it's one more thing to cross of the list!
tuesday, puppy jumped off the arm of the chair but slipped and landed on the hardwood floor on either her head or back or side :( i was so worried! she got up and looked like she woke up and had a really bad hangover! poor girl. but she ended up being okay, thank God!
on wednesday, i begged DH to drop me off a timmy's everything bagel with plain cream cheese (cuz he had the week off), and while eating it i thought to myself, that was the best decision i've made all day! well, it turns out it was cuz when i got home for lunch, our lock was broken! i would have been sooo hungry...by the time DH got home from the theatre, and the locksmiths FINALLY broke into our old lock, i WAS starving, but luckily i had made a sandwich that morning that i was able to grab and run back to work with. who knew?!
back to baby...
we have our second u/s on monday - my bro's b-day. so we'll have the NT test done, and hopefully hear some good news, and hopefully baby's progressing as well.
i'm still having a super hard time finding things to eat. i can't eat apples or clementines anymore. now i'm trying to eat plums (which aren't in season so they don't taste all that good right now!), and on monday i think, it was my idea to take out halibut dinners from a restaurant! yep, baby must take after his father! i could eat halibut right now... (so weird!). and the other safe food for me are baked potatoes with sour cream. and cereal...
and now i'm hungry and starting to not feel so good so i need to get some food of some sort! what, i don't know...
Oh ya, i should be on week 13 today i think.
2008-04-21 (12 weeks)
told more people... friday night, we went to my aunt and uncle's in BG on our way to Skeeter's to see if they wanted to come out for us...we were needing dinner, but it was 6 and we figured maybe they'd want some food or a drink depending if they've eaten already. anyway, my uncle was golfing (we were supposed to borrow his truck that night for the next day to pick up my bro's hutch, but we thought it would be too pricey in gas), and my aunt was home but in her housecoat cuz she was working nights and just laid down to get some sleep. She welcomed us in and we got chatting. i showed her the u/s picture and she was super happy for us and congratulated us a bunch. she wanted to keep the picture and leave it on the table to see what my uncle would say.
finally, it was almost 8pm and i was DYING of hunger...we went to skeeter's but i couldn't stand to go in so DH ran in and used the "i have a pregnant wife in the car who's craving one of your quesadilla's" excuse - all true though! and they made it a priority *L* cool.
saturday, we sold our geo - finally! $800 cash. i was still a little suspicious that this wasn't the end of it, but i was super happy and glad we stayed home. that night we called my step aunt (?) and uncle in WLLBRG and told them. My aunt answered the phone, and i hadn't talked to her since our wedding in June! she goes "so you're calling to tell me you're pregnant!" i was like "how'd ya know?!" sarcastically, cuz i knew she wanted a phone call, she told my grandma (although, i realized i think she meant for my grandma to call her. haha. but either way i guess!) So we talked to her for a bit...she said her niece is preggo too, and apparently she got married right after us too! She congratulated us and passed us on to my uncle. he congratulated us too, and we talked with him for a few minutes about his boat, and wambo - he invited us all (alllll the family!) down in august, and mentioned they have tents and trailers and room for everyone to sleep over. DH said, "i don't think she'll want to stay over but we'd love to come for the day" and i said, ya i'll just end up eating all your food. (which, i hope by that time i do feel that way!)
Sunday we visited DH's bro, sis-in-law and our newest niece...and i held her for a bit, got her to smile - yes! i haven't lost it from when my sis's kids were babies! haha. we were there from 10:30 i think, until 12. then we went to the mall and i bought a few tops that work for maternity...at least for now! and then we met my parents (who were driving home from my sis's) so we could meet up and look at cribs. my sis found one in the sears catalogue though that looks just like dunc's bro's and they love their crib!
anyway, gotta run. i'm attempting halibut tonight! eeeeeee.
