Baby has arrived!

2008-04-10  (32 weeks)
32 Weeks/7th OB appt.

Thirty-two weeks and all is well.  I have slept good the past two nights (knock-on-wood) and for the most part I am feeling pretty good.  We went to our breastfeeding class on Tuesday night - which was quite informative!  Although the teacher/educator/lactation consultant went over the materials quickly, we were given quite a bit of knowledge and they will also meet with us again after the birth.

I had a GREAT baby shower over the weekend with my family!  I received some really great gifts for Camryn, tons of clothes, and even a few nice things for Mom, including a spa bathrobe and slippers!

I spent HOURS in the nursery last night (my only free night this week) just trying to get things on hangers, in drawers, on shelves, etc!  Almost done!  Darren has to cut down the rods, so I can get the clothes hung up, as they are a couple inches too long.  Hopefully he will bring the tool home from work so we can get that done.

My OB appointment went well.  My blood pressure  and urine checked out well.  I have gained another two pounds - which is on target for the "one pound a week" she is looking for at this point.  We talked about the swelling in my feet, more specifically in my right foot and ankle and she said that "this might just be a pregnancy thing for me" as I am showing no other syptoms of preeclampsia, which is what she would be concerned about as I am not showing symptoms of high blood pressure or protein in my urine.  (Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine).

My fundal height was 32 cm. (Fundal height, or MacDonald's rule, is a measure of the size of the uterus used to assess fetal growth and development. It is measured from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus in centimeters. It should match the fetus' gestational age in weeks within 1 to 3 cm.).  Once again - on target, as I am 32 weeks!  We also got to hear the baby's heartbeat - and once again the heartrate was in the 150's.  Prestin was with me for this visit, so he was interested to see what goes on - which still isn't much as these appointments - as they are still routine.  I will have one more routine appointment (in two weeks) and then we begin the one week appointments - which include the internal exams!

Moving right along...

31 Weeks

Wow - down to single digits in weeks!  YIKES!

All continues to go well.  Sleep has been hit or miss.  Not a good night last night (and I am feeling it today) but had been good up until then, for the most part.  Still getting up every two hours (if not more) but I am generally able to get back to sleep.

Had a little stomach bug this week!  I have passed it on to Darren, so I am sure I will be fine from this point on!  Just hoping it does not come back around, again!  I stayed home from work yesterday, and was able to get a few things done around the house and had some lounge time, too.

I am beginning to have some swelling in my ankles, specifically the right one!  As I sit here and type, I am barefoot, and have removed my socks to relieve the dents in my legs they are leaving!  I know swelling is just a part of pregnancy - so I am not worried about it.  It's just very odd that it is just the one ankle!  I am sure the other ankle is swollen, too, but there is a significant difference!

We have an exciting weekend coming up - time for my BABY SHOWER!  I am so excited to see my family!

30 Weeks

Hard to believe we have only 10 weeks to go!  Well, until the estimated due date anyhow!  We finished our childbirth classes and have one more class (breastfeeding) in two weeks.

All is going so well, it's still hard to believe!  I am still having some sleep issues, but definately not as bad.  I guess I am practicing for all the late night feedings!

We are scheduled for our 3D/4D ultrasound on Saturday - which I am very excited about!

We are keeping busy with Prestin's baseball schedule.  We missed his first game last Saturday (they won) because we were in our childbirth class but he has another game tomorrow night and Saturday.  We are going to the batting cages tonight to make sure he is ready!

Look for my 30 week belly oicture later on tonight!

6th OB Appointment

My OB appointment was rescheduled for this a.m. after an emergency situation arose yesterday.  I can only imagine that another baby was brought into the world yesterday afternoon!

All is well.  Urine and blood pressure were fine.  I have gained one pound in the last two weeks - which is good.  The baby's heartrate was 150 BPM and I am measuring 30 weeks, which is perfect because I will be 30 weeks tomorrow!

Talked to the doctor about a noticeable decrease in the baby's movement.  (I had attributed it to the baby's growth and things being a little cramped in there).  Anyhow, hearing her hearbeat was a great relief!  I am feeling her kick, just not as much as last week.  Anyhow, Dr, Thompson told me to take the time to lay and relax and count kicks/movements.  We should be getting 10 kicks/movments within two hours.  I will try that tonight - but I can tell you Camryn has been kicking up a storm since I left the office!  Phew...she must have know I was talking about her and needed reassurance!
