Baby has arrived!

2008-06-04  (40 weeks)
40 Weeks

Here I am - 40 weeks.  Today is Camryn's EDD (estimated due date).  I guess no one told her!  She remains snug inside!  I will check into the hospital tonight, at 11:30 p.m. for my induction.  Hopefully June 5th will be her birthday!  I am hoping for a quick and easy delivery!

I am almost sad that this will be my last "pregnancy" post.  I have so enjoyed being pregnant and I know I will miss feeling her kicks, punches and hiccups.  (Daddy actually got to feel her hiccups last night).  My pregnancy has definately been a wonderful experience, a real miracle!

I remain pretty swollen and feel like my legs are just filling up with fluid.  I am swollen well above my knees now and my hands are so swollen I can not make a fist.  It's pretty uncomfortable and I can not wait for the relief to come, in that aspect!

No "real" contractions at all.  I am still have the Braxton Hick contractions, often, but they have not developed beyond that.  She still feels like she is sitting up high to me, so I do not feel or even look like she has dropped.

Think of us tomorrow morning and be wishing me "ELV's" (easy labor vibes)!   I will update as soon as possible!

39 Weeks/11th OB appt.

One more week until the EDD (estimated due date).  Some days it seems like only yesterday that we were makingour grand announcement and then others it seems as though I have been pregnant for a long time!  I am very excited to meet our little girl and can not wait to take care of her!  I am still anxious about the "birthing process" but there's not much I can do about that and I will see my OB this afternoon to see what the game plan is.  As of last week, we were looking to induce next Wednesday, so we'll see if any progress has been made, although I do not feel as though there has been.

Sleeping is not going so well, again.  I am mostly just uncomfortable.  Sleeping with pillows propping me up to avoid the heart burn.  Sleeping with a pillow between my legs for comfort.  Sleeping with pillows under my knees to alleviate the swelling.  Not to mention the getting up every two hours to use the bathroom!  Anyhow - hopefully just another week (or sooner would be good) and then the real sleepless nights will begin!

Fortunately I am done with work and can begin focusing my attention on being a stay-at-home mom and housewife.  Leaving work was bittersweet, as I will miss the girls (Kathy and Kim) and the adult interaction.  I know I will "do lunch" with them often enough, though!  But, I was ready to be done.

We are winding down the school year (only today and tomorrow left) for Prestin and also finishing up the baseball season.  We won the first game of the championship series last night and will play again Friday night.  The mini-World Series to begin on Saturday , if we win.  Sunday is the team party - so I will be free to go into labor any time after then!

I will update with my OB visit later on!

UPDATE: Well, my update is that there is not much to update.  Dr. Thompson states that all remains, "about the same."  Blood pressure, weight and urine are all fine.  I am measuring 39 cm. which correlates with my 39 weeks.  I am scheduled to be induced and unless she decided to come sooner we will report to the ER on Wednesday, June 4th at 11:30 p.m.  Looks like we may have a June 5th birthday!

38 Weeks/11th OB appt.

Two weeks to go!  Luckily that was definately confirmed this afternoon at my OB appointment.  She told me that she is not going to let me go beyond my due date of June 4th, therefore if this little one does not make her entrance into the world in the next two weeks, on her own, I will be induced on the 4th of June.

The swelling in my feet and legs (from the knee down) has gotten very uncomfortable and painful.  I think I can handle it for another two weeks, knowing I only have two days of work left and will be able to stay home next week and "try" to keep them elevated as much as possible.

I am 2-3 cm dilated (which is a bit better than just the 2 cm I was last week) and I remain 75% effaced.  Not much progress there.  Blood pressure, urine and weight gain are all still looking good.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers - wishing for labor and delivery as easy (and uncomplicated) as the pregnancy!

37 Weeks/10th OB appt.

Full term.  Camryn is welcome to arrive any day now!  I am ready!

OB appointment went well.  Darren was even able to go with me, so he could hear for himself how things are going.  I am 2 cm. dilated and 75% effaced - so things are progressing, which is a good thing.  Blood pressure was elevated, for me, but still within normal range.  Urine is going to have to be sent out, as the doctor believes I may have a bladder infection.  (Maybe that's what all my cramping has been about).  Swelling is still present.  She did not say anything about my weight gain for this week, but I did not ask either.

So, I will see her in another week, unless Camryn has other plans!
