Today was my first OB appointment with Dr. Thompson! I love her! She was very nice, friendly and funny (which is a big plus) and she also shares the same birthday as me! She did a complete physical and then attempted to find the baby's heartbeat on her office doppler. She was not successful, as I warned her I had had difficulty locating it myself on the home doppler, but I am much too persistant! Anyhow, she did an in-office ultrasound and the baby was seen, as well as the heartbeat! Heart rate was at 160 BPM, strong and steady! I have been scheduled for the NT scan (see below) on November 30 and will go back for another OB appointment on December 17. All is well!
What is an NT Scan?
This prenatal test (also called the NT or nuchal fold scan) can help your healthcare practitioner assess your baby's risk of having Down syndrome (DS) and some other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major congenital heart problems.
The NT test uses ultrasound to measure the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of your developing baby's neck. Babies with abnormalities tend to accumulate more fluid at the back of their neck during the first trimester, causing this clear space to be larger than average.

11 Weeks
Eleven weeks and all is well! Total weight gained is only 3 1/2 pounds. I am still suffering from bouts of constipation, however it seems to have eased up a bit. I guess stopping the progesterone may have helped a little. Otherwise I am feeling pretty good, I can not complain!
I found the baby's heartbeat on the doppler last night. I had heard all sorts of other "noises" in the days prior, but FINALLY got the real thing! The heart rate was about 161 BPM, according to the doppler.

10 Weeks
Another milestone. After 10 weeks, still no real morning sickness to speak of, only some major constipation issues! I have gained another 1 and 1/2 pounds, which brings the total to 4 pounds gained (all belly)! I was able to stop taking my progesterone supplement and I am hoping that brings much needed relief!
I have rented a home doppler, so we can listen to the baby's heartbeat at home! It should arrive today, and I am very excited to have the reassurance until my next appointment!

Second Ultrasound All is well. Our baby is growing right on target! We had a heartbeat of 179 BPM today and we could see the little one wiggling all around! One more hurdle done! We have one more week of the progesterone and I was given a couple of different pre-natal vitamins to try. I am oficially released from the "specialist" and will meet my regular ob/gyn on November 19, 2007.
