weight, urine, BP, glucose test, fundal height, Baby's heartbeat, movements...everything is looking "just right"! per Dr. Lacoste. YEAH!
I got a flu shot today, which wasn't too bad, but is now a little achy. I absolutely hate shots - my mom used to have to chase me around the house and my dad had to hold me down to administer any type of shot or vaccination when I was a kid - actually even when I was in high school! (no worries, she's an RN) But I try not to be a baby about it in front of the general public, haha.
We ordered and picked up the crib & mattress last weekend. I bought some long-sleeved onesies from Once Upon a Child (gently used children's clothes and items), and we have some diapers in various brands and sizes. All that is left to do is paint the 3rd bedroom, move Jacob in there (which I'm a bit nastalgic about still, but he IS going to be the big brother!), wash a few clothes, and set up the bassinet. Nothing that can't be accomplished in a few short weeks, huh? We are just about ready!
At my last appointment (10/10/07) I had a long list of questions that I asked Dr. Lacoste about a VBAC. She continues to remain neutral about my choice, but was very helpful in providing information to us about VBACs. In her years of OB, she cannot remember the last time a VBAC delivery was "catastrophic", and the risk of uterine rupture is 1% - very slight chance of that actually happening. So VBAC it is! I am excited about the opportunity to attempt labor again, I really do believe that God will provide me the strength & endurance during L & D - and ultimately, HE is in charge, so I have no fear! My goal (or birth plan, I guess) is simply this: to be awake and alert during the delivery of my second child. If that means a repeat c-section for some reason, so be it. I just want to be able to hear the Dr. say "It's a _______!" and Tim & I be able to share in the joy and happiness of our child taking his or her first breath in the world. What a dream come true that will be!
In the last 24 hours or more, I think this Baby only stopped moving for a matter of minutes. I'm NOT kidding - he or she is that active! WOW, are we going to be busy. I love feeling the Baby move, I love watching Jacob hug and kiss my belly, I love being entertained by the bouncing baby belly at work or church or while driving -- it is all such a precious gift to me! I'm so grateful every day for my husband and my children; I simply could not ask for more.
I wanted to send out a huge CONGRATULATIONS to our friends, Faye & Casey, who just welcomed their first baby, a son, into the world on Monday, October 8th. Carson Adam weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz, and looks adorable in the pictures his mommy and daddy have sent. We look forward to meeting him soon! We are excited for Jacob to have another "cousin" close in age.
Right now I'm going to watch Baby continue to try to escape via my belly button....

A New Cousin!
Happy Birth Day, Lukas!
We are excited to announce the birth of the newest member of our family, my nephew, Lukas Daniel. He was born this morning, October 7th, via c-section (after over 48 hours of induction) at 9 lbs, 3 oz and 21 inches long. Mommy, Daddy & Baby Lukas are all doing well.
This is Jacob & Baby #2's first BOY cousin, YEAH!
I am so happy for my brother and SIL, and cannot wait to meet and snuggle my new nephew.
God is SO great!

Feathering the Nest...Continued!
This is the crib we finally ordered. It was a great deal (closeout sale) at www.jcpenny.com.
I also went through our gender-neutral baby clothing, just to itemize what we have and what we might still "need" for this Baby. Can you believe we have sixteen size 0-3 short sleeved onesies?! I think Jacob wore that size for 2 weeks! Therefore, we will be purchasing a few things (mainly long-sleeved, warmer items) in bigger sizes, 3-6 month and 6 month +.
Other than that, our weekend will be spent getting this house in order - continuing to paint (we're redoing our living room and kitchen at the moment, as well as the hallway between bedrooms and stairwell) and deep-clean the house. We're making progress & I have the best husband in the world who has been working his tail off to appease his crazy-pregant wife.
Enjoy this beautiful sunshine & fall-weather!!!!!!!

Nesting Strikes
I organized our housebold hangers today. Yes, you certainly read that right. HANGERS. Turns out we have a garbage bag full of hangers that we don't own enough clothes for. Good grief!
Nesting is in full swing here, at 27 weeks. Entering the 3rd and final trimester - WowZers! I am feeling bigger by the moment, and more exhausted by the day. (I was really hoping the exhaustion would stay at bay until at least mid-October, but unfortunately, it's here already!) It's really hard work to be pregnant the second time around, and chase a 15 month old who has learned to run & climb recently. I have come to an all new level of amazement and wonder for my own mother. Just how did she do it?!
This Baby aleady brings me such joy! I love to feel little baby parts beneath my belly - still not sure which is a foot, leg, arm, hand, butt, etc...but it doesn't matter really! I know this baby is growing big and strong too - his/her movements are huge & sometimes surprising! I love every second of bonding time with this little one - I know there will come a day (not too long from now) where I will have to "share" him or her with the rest of the world. So I am savoring this time in pregnancy -- in reality, it really doesn't last very long! (I am seriously going to have to go back and reread this entry when I'm 37-38 weeks pregnant, huh? Hee hee)
We are working on plans to make a weekend getaway before Baby comes (as a treat to us both, and also as Tim's birthday present to me). It will be nice to enjoy some time as husband and wife (not to mention get lots of R & R, sleep, and uninterrupted time for ourselves!!!) before we are parents to TWO! I will miss my Little Man, but I know he'll have lots of fun with his grandparents!
Okay...there is more bedding to be washed, closets to organize, dishes to do....where do I start?! Oh wait...possibly with a good dose of Oprah! :)
Enjoy your day....HAPPY FALL! (at a pleasant 85* + here! Ugghh!!!!!!!!)
