7 Weeks and Going Strong
I guess I jumped the gun last week when I said I would update after my ultrasound, which is next week. Pregnancy brain! Things are going well for the most part. I felt much better on Sunday and Monday (less nauseous and tired) and made the mistake of mentioning it on a board I post on. Sure enough I woke up yesterday morning feeling lousy. Today isn't quite so bad, but I also think I'm getting used to operating with a slight nauseous feeling.

In good news, we've begun packing and have scheduled our movers for November 5. I can't believe it's coming up so soon! We have also set up most of our major utilities. We close a week from this Friday, and will spend a night with Jake in the new house that Sunday so we can greet the cable/phone installer on Monday morning. It's so exciting! My parents will also be leaving on the day of my ultrasound to drive across the country and spend the winter with us. It may take them a couple of weeks as they're bringing their very large trailer and will have to take a southern route to avoid snow in the Rockies. I can't wait to see them.

I spent the past couple of days sorting through Jake's clothes and clearing out a lot of small stuff and packing it up for Sprout. Obviously if Sprout is a girl a lot of the boyish stuff will have to go, but most of his infant stuff was gender neutral since he was a surprise boy, so all that is boxed and ready to go in Sprout's new room. Yay! Tonight we are going to purchase a washer/dryer combo unit that will go in the half bath on the main floor in the new house. It will be nice not to have to go into the basement to do laundry.

I guess that's it for my update. My weight is holding steady, and I'm very pleased with that. I know I've been eating slightly more, especially with snacking on saltines and ginger snaps to ward off the nausea. But I'm burning the extra calories, so I hope I can hold steady for a few more weeks. I do not want to gain a lot with this pregnancy, I've got extra weight on me to spare!

Things Are Going Well
The 6th week (or the 7th week, depending on how you count it) has been going well. My symptoms are getting stronger and I've now thrown up - yuck. I take all of it as a good sign that the pregnancy is progressing as it should.

I visited my new Ob/Gyn office on Wednesday and met with a nurse, who confirmed the pregnancy. I set up my next appointment which will include the first ultrasound (yay!) and meeting with one of the new OBs for October 25. That's the day before we close on our new house. Very exciting! I also got some bloodwork done for my rheumatologist and haven't heard anything from him. No news is good news from him, so all is well.

I've been slowly opening up new accounts and transferring things to our new future address this week. I packed the first box (finally), and it is 0-6 month clothes for Sprout. It's a huge box, some things Jake didn't even get to wear! We'll be getting more boxes and really packing this weekend, so the move seems much more real now. We've also schedule movers for the the furniture on November 3, so that night will be the first night spent in the new house! We'll move most of the rest of the boxes the following day. We're lucky in that we don't have to be out of this apartment at a particular time, so we can leave things behind here and really take our time with the move. I can't wait to get the new place and have all the space. We'll really have to work overtime to babyproof everything!

I will update again next week after the ultrasound, and hopefully I'll have photos.

Nausea Has Set In
I just wanted to make a quick update during Week 5. Things are going well and I'm feeling much stronger pregnancy symptoms. Nausea has kicked in big time. It's worse in the mornings and tapers off mid-afternoon. I actually spit up yesterday afternoon though - I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come in this trimester. I'm also horribly tired, thankfully the weekend is here and John can take care of the baby for a while so I can rest and get some packing done.

My appetite hasn't been all there and I've actually lost a couple of pounds. I'm not too concerned since I've got a nice cushion of extra weight. I feel like my body is working pretty hard now on creating my new Sprout plus producing milk for Jake. So I'm probably burning a lot more calories. I'm sure things will even out and I've been munching on saltines and sipping pregnancy tea a lot of the time.

I'm still feeling very optimistic that this Sprout is going to stick around. And I'm also pretty sure it's a girl. I've felt that way from the beginning (just like I had a gut feeling Jake was a boy), but I've caught myself referring to Sprout as "she" so we'll see. We're not finding out the sex ahead of time so it will still be a nice surprise at birth. Luckily if it's a boy we have all of Jake's clothes to get us started, and if it's a girl she has tons of hand-me-downs from her SEVEN older female cousins.

I'm going to call my rheumatologist tomorrow and share my news. I won't get to talk to him until early evening (that's when he does his callbacks). I'm sure he'll send me for all sorts of bloodwork, and he's supposed to be referring me to an obstetrician within his building since I changed insurances and we're moving. So hopefully I'll have my first appointment set up by the middle of next week and I'll have something to look forward to. I'm hoping to go around 8 or 9 weeks so we'll be able to get a good view on the ultrasound. Guess I'll wait and see what the doctors have in mind. I also have to break the news to my rheumatologist that I don't want to go on Heparin, so hopefully that goes over well. I had a completely normal pregnancy without it so I have that in my favor.

We Have An Embryo
According to the pregnancy calendar I've been following, my little blastocyst became an embryo today. Yay! I am officially past the point where I began spotting in my last pregnancy and am feeling very good about things. I'm having a lot of symptom, including nausea, fatigue, sore boobs, and I even had some reflux a couple of nights ago. Lovely!

One of the things that is going to be most challenging with this pregnancy is my weight. Before I got pregnant with Jake I weighed in at 122, and that was a good weight for me. I gained about 50 pounds with him and only lost about half of it. I'm at 144 now, so I'm starting this pregnancy 22 pounds heavier than I used to be. Yuck. I found it really hard to lose weight while breastfeeding (I'm still breastfeeding in fact) and I knew I wanted to get pregnant again so that kind of hindered me from going on an all out weight loss and exercise kick. Which sucks because now I have to REALLY try to watch my weight gain. If I gain 50 with this pregnancy I'm going to be dangerously close to 200 pounds, and that's no good for me since I'm not quite 5'3. I've eaten healthy meals all week and have been out walking with Jake just about every day, so hopefully that will keep the weight from coming on too quickly. And during my last pregnancy I ate a LOT of ice cream, which I'm going to do my best to prevent this time around.

I'm just taking this pregnancy day by day and doing my best to get some rest. Not easy with a 9 month old in the house who's trying to walk. And we're moving into a new house next month to top things off! We'll be hiring movers for the big stuff and we've gotten plenty of offers of help from friends and family thankfully. But I haven't even begun packing yet and I know I really need to get around to that.
