the past week (progress, anniversary, 6th Dr. Appt)

first thing first. if you haven't checked out the photo album here, i have uploaded the pictures of the nursery. over the last week, my hubby did some major cleaning in the nursery. since we are turning his computer room/ guest room into our nursery, most of the stuff in there are his. after getting the crib last sunday, he was motivated to clean out his old office and get ready for setting up the crib. on saturday morning, right before we had to go to a friend's baby shower, my hubby set up the crib in 30 min!!! it's quite sturdy and nice. now we just need to get a mattress this weekend. on sunday night, we put up the wall borders. it matches our wall color nicely and we have been sneaking into the nursery every now and then to admire the good job we did! :)

monday was our 7th year wedding anniversary. we both took a day off and had a day trip in Monterey. we got there around 1pm to have lunch at Bubba Gump (the restaurant my hubby proposed to me). we then went to the aquarium for a few hours. after that, we strolled along cannery row. we had dinner at Chart House. they were very attentive. we even had our own personalized menu for our anniversary! the food was great. we enjoyed our last anniversary together  "alone".  even though we can still have our "alone" time together after the baby is born. but it will be very different. i guess we just want to take advantage of the remaining 2.5 months and spend more quality time together before our new and adventurous lives begin. next weekend, we'll be going to a marriage conference. it will be another time for us to dedicate our time and mind to our marriage and each other. :)

i had a monthly dr. appt yesterday. since i'm in rotation, i saw another dr. this time. she is a little bit more thorough than my regular dr. maybe since it's her first time seeing me, she was getting familiar with my chart and records. when she was going through my past ultrasounds, i brought up my concern about the findings about the fluid in the baby's kidney. she said i might as well do another ultrasound to follow up! i was sooo happy to hear that since my regular dr. didn't recommend that! so we got the slip to do that in 2 weeks when i'm 31 weeks! so happy that i can see my little boy again. also, i'm measuring at only 27-28cm. so it's slightly smaller than where i should be (29cm), so doing the u/s would let us see the size of our baby. as for my weight, i gained about 5 lb over last month. so i've gained a total of 19lb! this morning i gained another lb. so 20lb so far!! i've got 11 more weeks to go. i hope i won't gain more than 10 lbs.  this dr. said they want to keep the weight gain between 25-30lb. and she thinks i'm doing ok. i'll go back in 2 weeks. same day as the ultrasound 5/22. btw, the baby's head is down, so he's ready!! well, not so soon but at least he's in the right position! :)

this weekend, we'll go to a 2 hr class on Infant CPR and safety class. besides that, we'll spend our spare time on cleaning up the house. yes, our nesting instinct has kicked in! :)

In the Home Stretch!!

finally, i'm in the home stretch, the last trimester! :)

just got my glucose test result. everything's ok! so i passed. i'm relieved that i can continue to have my sweets. my taste seems to have changed back to pre-pregnancy. i'm craving more sweets than the last 2 trimesters! so it's good that i passed the glucose test.

although i passed the glucose test, the dr. told me to take iron supplements. :( i guess i have anemia. no wonder people say i look more pale these days... i wish i didn't have to take more supplements, but for my baby's sake, i will.

i have been dreaming alot more... another pregnancy symptoms. i read that it's normal to have vivid and scary dreams during pregnancy, esp the last trimester. it's a way for me to deal with my fears and insecurities toward pregnancy and parenthood. yeah, i have had many nightmares lately which would wake me up and leave me catching my breath. one night, i had nightmares after nightmares all night. the next morning, i felt like i didn't sleep at all. :(

my hubby also had some funny dreams. he told me that he dreamed that i have 4 kids...all boys surrounding me. and what funny was that they all had a chocolate bar in their hands! :P maybe they know mommy loves chocolate... :) his second dream was me being with 4 kids again but they were all girls this time! hmmm, does that mean i'll have 8 kids??

anyway, good news! we got our baby crib! so so happy about this cuz we were not planning to get a crib so soon. we have only looked at the ones in BabiesRUs and didn't do a whole lot of research. then on sunday, we went to a local baby store. our friend got theirs there and said that most of their cribs need to be ordered and would take about 12-15 weeks to deliver. we went on sunday just to ck it out. there were 2 that we like and were on sale. we asked the sales and to our surprise, they have the one we like in stock! so we just took it home on sunday! so now we'll have to really clean up the nursery and make room for the new crib! stay tuned for pictures of the nursery. (hopefully, we can have it done in a week)

keeps growing

my belly seems to have grown overnight from Wed to Thurs. i gained 2 lb overnight and my belly felt bigger! :) (ck out the new photo in the album) actually, on sunday i was a little down becuz my belly hasn't grown too much and it's always the smallest among the pregnant women at church. it's not that i wanna compare but i worried that my baby is not big enough. but i have heard that even if you gain alot of weight and have a big belly, your baby doesn't neccessary mean big! one co-worker told me that she knows someone who gained only 20 lb but the baby was 9 lb!! well, i don't wish to have a 9 lb baby. that's just too big for me to deliver...7 lb would be ideal...  anyway, i think i've gained about 15lb so far. will have my next dr. visit next Wed (5/7).

the hospital tour on Wed. night was ok. it was 1.5 hr but i thought it could have been done in 30 min! maybe it's becuz i've been there visiting a friend who gave birth to her baby earlier this year and i've been to the labor room when i got the flu with high fever. so i'm pretty much familiar with the hospital layout and what not. but it was still nice to have this tour to get my mind prepared for the big day. that night, i actually dreamed that i have contractions and was ready to give birth!! so it seems more real to me that i'll be going into labor in about 3 months!

glucose test on thursday was not bad. that soda drink was not bad at all. i really don't see how people say the drink is nasty. i actually had some omelete before i went and i was sooo thirsty when i got there that i drank the whole bottle in a minute! it was lemon lime flavor. i guess it's good that they had it chilled. the hour went by fast by reading parenting magazine. well, i just hope that i passed the test...

well, our weekends will become more busy soon with baby showers and classes. we went to a baby shower last weekend and will go to another one next weekend. so glad to have so many friends who will be first time parents as us! we'll have an infant safety class on 5/10 and then lamaze class 5/31 & 6/7... we are planning to go to a marriage conference 5/16-5/18. so that pretty much fills up our weekend. and yes, still deciding when we'll have our own babyshower for our baby boy! :)

p.s  Ck out my growing belly in the photo album section!
