I was hoping to talk with someone regarding my daughter and tics...Does this mean she has ADD or ADHD as well?? Everytime I look things up on the internet they seem to go together. She only tics while excited about something. She has two she does one with her jaw and the other with her left hand - she does them at the same time....Feeling concerned.... please help...Thank you

Hi JMC, my son was just diagnosed with ADHD last week, inattentive type. He has a tic, he blinks incessantly, but it always gets worse when he is worried, stressed or excited. However, just because your daughter has a tic does not mean she has ADHD. Mention it to her doc and see what he has to say about it. How old is your daughter? when does she have the tic? Is she stressed or tired when it becomes more prevalent? Is there other behaviour that is associated with the tic? All of these questions and more need to be discussed with your doc. Good luck, and godspeed.

My son has tourettes, global development delay and adhd. For your question What I know is there are alot of the same signs in adhd and tourettes. Tics are more from tourettes, there is nothing that can help them stop their tics. I would see your doctor and they will be able to send you to a pediatrician. I would also keep notes on her tics what they are and how long they last. I know that they can't diagnose tourettes until the child is older and they have to have a voical tic. My son clicks can be shouting. tics are uncontrollable and the more you try to stop them the more they will do it. hope this was some help.
