I had the same kind of problem. I had made a baby registry for my shower and specifically told everyone to atleast look on it to see what we needed, but the majority of people didn't bother and went and bought other things. We were lucky though we got alot of what was on the registry just people decided to go to different stores for it and in the end we still had to go out and buy stuff ourselves. However our shower was alot bigger we had roughly 35 people at ours. It was rediculous really. As for what ya really need and don't need i'm not sure as this is my first pregnancy and well going by your list of what you have and must haves sounds pretty good. You've got a good start of what you already have. When are you due? you may want to get some warm baby clothes and warm blankets and that kinda stuff especially. ↑ |

Hi Ann, I am due January 20th (so we're pretty close on due dates) :) This is my 2nd. I think your list is perfect for things you will need. When I got home with my first daughter I didn't have any gas drops and had never heard of them. (Those are definitely a must have.) I've never heard of a diaper champ either. I used to have a diaper genie but I never used it.... maybe I'll look into that. With registering, I never did that. I actually had my mom enclose a list of things I felt I needed in the invitation envelope for the shower so people weren't limited to where they had to shop to find what I wanted. ↑ |

Hi Ann! I am due January 25th! With my first baby I registered online at Wal-Mart, not only for the shower but for my personal reference as well. That way everytime I went to Wal-Mart I could "mark" a few things off the list! This time I did the same thing but I am waiting till after the shower to shop! Ok- I never used the diaper Genie I have.. its still in the closet..lol, The medicine is a must esp. gas drops and Tylenol, I also LOVED a boncey seat it and the baby loved it too! I never used my changing table BUT it is pretty :-) (and it doubles as a closet/dresser) lol! A wipe warmer is nice too.. babies dont like those cold wipes on their bottoms. Decide on the type of bottles you like and stock up! We used Playtex Vent Aire (middle priced) and Tyler (knock on wood) never had colic SO.. that is what we are using again! Ok I am rambling but I wish I would have asked this question last time cause I could have saved lots of money! Would LOVE to talk more about this! ↑ |

i had my daughter last january and one thing that i loved was a blanket called swaddle me. because babies always want to be swaddled the first couple of months, this is great, cause its not reallly a blanket. its a wrap that velcrose around the baby. you open it up, lay the baby in it and velcro it. its much faster than trying to use a receiving blanket, and they are warm made out of fleece. ↑ |

another thing great about the swaddle me is that when you put pajamas on the baby, then the swaddle me, it keeps them plenty warm in the winter without having to use another blanket, which reduces sudden infant death syndrom. ↑ |

If you don't expect very many people to buy you what is on your registry, I would recommend that you only put the things you REALLY want on the registry! ↑ |

My husband and I purchase a bottle warmer which I regret spending the money on. We used it twice and then never used it again. The one thing that we did get that was very helpful was a diaper wipe warmer. My son use to scream everytime we changed his diaper and I couldn't figure out why. He ended up getting diahrrea so I would take the diaper wipes and run them under warm water before cleaning him off. Turned out that he was crying because the diaper wipes where cold. After we picked up the warmer no more screaming. Bouncer is also very handy. ↑ |
