So I took Emilee to her developmental screening on monday and she did great she was so funny at first everything the ladies asked her to do she looked at them and shook her head no and said uh ahh (no), But they broke out toys she couldn't resist as well as cheerios......what baby would refuse! Anyhow she did great, after a few minutes she warmed up to the ladies and even began showing off!!! She did great on the screening, she scored an 18+ months for her development (she will be 16 months on the 27th) so right where she needs to be!

yay Emilee! Is here any reason that you had to take her to be screened or is it just routine?

Inquiring minds what to know, hahaha.

What kinds of tests does it consist of? My neice is 18 months and i'm pretty sure she never had a developemtal screening.

But, good job Emilee!

Rule of thumb 1 before 2....ya never heard that????? It's recomended that all kids have at least 1 screening before the age of 2, and they will get another at preschool and then a kindergarten screening.......I had no worries about her it's just recommended and free so why not!!!

Nope, i've never heard of it. Is a state thing??? Its recommened but not mandority(sp?) right? Hopefully you have a choice.

What kind of "tests" did they put her through?

Ummmm I don't think so, because we just moved to this state last may and the screening was the same case where we were before....no it's not manditory, just recemmended and nice to do??? I don't know it's free I say why not.......
They do things to test their cognetive thinking, motor skills, comprhension, test their hearing ect. I did opt out of having her ears tested because she's had an ear infection since the 31st of last month and she cant finish her antibiotics because she gets a yeast infection beyond beleif.......if it weren't so bad I'd just keep giving the meds but the infection was terrible so I stopped her meds and she will be seen again next week.......so anyrate so since in stuffing things in her ears when i know they hurt

yeah where do they do the testing?

have the given her a shot of antibiotic that always kicks brooke's ear infections way faster then the oral anyway

Check your local developmental center...look under schools....if you cant find it call the school board they can tell you where to go and so can your dr

I didn't mean to worry you all, it's not manditory just my choice to have them done, even though i know my child is fine, just a good idea to double check!

oh no i wasn't worrying it just caught my eye because the doctor has always said that emma is about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs ahead of her age and the gracie is about 1 to 1 1/2 yrs ahead of hers. so i thought it would be kinda nice to get the formally tested to see just where they are. ya' know? do they test them at these ages? 3 and 4?

depends on your states guidelines......Jacob will 4 in june and he was supposed to get tested but we got there and they said he was to old???? Anyhow not worried he starts preschool this fall and they will prob. test him then and I know for a fact that they screen all kindergartners so anyhow hes already had a screening when he was an infant and when he was 2 as well so no worries.

I wasn't worried, I'm not worried. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to know went goes down why the "test" or "screen" the child.

What they are looking for and such.
