i had an iud for 5 years. the last year i had it i started getting terrible pain during ovulation and very heavy bleeding. my hubby and i decided we wanted another baby, so i got it removed. three months later i was pregnant. at 5 1/2 weeks i started spotting and having pain. then i got horrible pain just on my right side and bled more. i went to the emergency room and they did an ultrasound. the baby was in my right tube. i had to have my tube removed because it almost ruptured. i was devistated at the loss plus i thought if would cause me a harder time to become pregnant with only one tube. 4 months later i got pregnant and miscarried right away. 2 months after that i had another miscarriage. i decided to give my body a break, plus i was depressed. that month, my hubby an i only had sex twice, avoiding the two weeks in the middle of my cycle that i would most likely become pregnant. 4 weeks later i found out i was pregnant again. this time it worked. i am 21 weeks now. i was told that i probably had scar tissue in my tube which caused the ectopic pregnancy but the doc couldnt say for sure if it was due to the iud. i got a bunch of books from the library and everyone said that the iud is linked to ectopic pregnancies. i had 2 babies and no miscarriages ever before i had the iud. then after the iud, i had one tubal and 2 miscarriages. how long did you have your iud in for?

my partner and i had been trying for a baby for 4 years and then i had the iud i didn't really expect it to work but it did straight away we were both happy and then i started spotting and had horrible brown discharge but no other simptoms they kept giving me blood tests to cheack the levels of hcg but they wern't growing fast enough, they gave me a few scans and thats when they told me they couldn't find my baby(which was my first), my other scans showd that it was ectopic and it was in my right ovary which i was told is unusal we are devastated i don't know what to do with my self at the moment i carn't even go and see my 5month old neice with out feeling selfish, i feel so empty inside i had to have an injection on sunday the 4th to get rid of my baby we are planning to try again in a few months when i'm ready i have been told that an ectopic is very commen in iud's and other fatility drugs for the first time.

I just got a ParaGard copper IUD put in about 3 weeks ago. It was fine for about one week, then last week I started cramping. I thought it was just painful ovulation. But for the last 10 days I've had horrible cramps and abdominal pain. I also started my period (a week early) and it's very heavy. I've never had any children, and I know my uterus is just reacting to the foreign object inside of it, and doing it's job to expel the IUD. But I wanted to try a non-hormonal method of birth control. I feel like I have betrayed my body by forcing it to accept something that shouldn't be there. I just wish I knew how much pain and cramping is acceptable, and whether or not I should wait it out and see if it subsides in a few months, or get the darn thing removed. I don't have anyone to talk to about this because everyone I know is either on the Pill or trying to conceive. Any advice about how long the cramps will last?
