Is it normal to have difficulties sleeping during your 2nd trimester? It's just so hard for me to fall asleep. I've always gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but now it's up to like 5 times, and then I can't fall back asleep. I lied there from 4-7 this morning, and I can' t take a nap b/c I'm scared that will perpetuate the cycle of sleeplessness. I've tried hot baths, warm milk, and massages. 2 months ago I never thought I would be complaining about my lack of sleep; I couldn't get enough. Any advice?

lol Get a pregnancy pillow from Walmart or where every they make it pretty comfortable to sleep. And although it wont help you peeing every min lol it just makes it more easy to get in the right position to sleep. Try not drinking to much before bed(not saying you do lol) but it has helped me a lil. I still have trouble sleeping but thats cause my lil guy becomes active right as I want to go to sleep lol

I can't break the habit of sleeping on my back yet. The majority of the night I spend on my back. It's not that I'm uncomfortable I just dont feel tired. I thought this whole sleep issue wouldn';t arrise until the 3rd trimester. Grrr! but thanks for the advice sara. By the way, when are you due?

I have read that after the 4th month you should not sleep on your back because of the weight of your uterus will cause pressure on you blood vessels. However, if you can prop yourself up so that you are not exactly laying on your back but your not fully laying on your side either this would be fine. I had asked my doctor because since my hips are killing me this was the only way that I could fall to sleep. So as long as you not laying completely flat on your back this will take prevent the pressure.

Hey Kristy all I can say is sorry to disapoint you, but it only gets worse. If your body is calling for a nap take one girl it means you need it. I can't sleep at all anymore and I feel like I am dieing from exhaustion!! I feel miserable and I have about 13 days to go till my little one is due, so I have been trying to rest as much as I can, seeing as how when she gets here I wont sleep much either. Just do what you can to get some sleep. Don't drink anything before you go to bed. Make your last drink about an hour before bed time so that your not up all night. It is hard especially when it is getting hot and you feel dehydrated, but it may help you sleep. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and I hope all goes well with you and your sleep. Cause man we need it!

i'm kinda of like kristy, but i'm 28 weeks...i know ur not supposed to sleep on your back, but it's the only position most times I can get comfortable enough in to fall asleep..i always wake up on my side tho. I've heard about the pregnancy pillows but I can't find them here in Canada yet. I try to limit what i eat and drink so nothing is after 9pm..but it doesn't help much cuz my lil girl loves to move around as i'm trying to go to sleep. So i'm running out of options, lastnight was the first night I got sleep till my baby woke me up at 6am lol.

I too am having trouble sleeping, between the baby being so active, having to use the bathroom and my body aching. I'm scheduled for a c-section on Aug 11th. Can't wait to have this little one out of me so that I can finally sleep on my stomach. I have a body pillow but it doesn't seem to help me much.

Kristy, try getting a body pillow. I put mine between my legs, under my belly and between my boobs. Some nights it's the only way I can get to sleep, especially now that my baby is due any day. Good Luck and I hope you get some sleep!
