Just wondering if anyone has done this and whats the best way to do it? My milk supply is not really good and Olivia is not really getting enough as she is always wanting more after a feed as she sucks me dry and there is literally nothing coming out. I have even tried expressing after a feed to see if i could get anything. I am worried about getting mastitis (sp) if i just stop. Is there anyway to stop your supply without running the risk of getting mastitis?

the oldest trick in the world...cabbage leaves. i didn't breastfeed my son and i thought they were going to give me a shot in the hospital to dry my milk up, but when i asked them about it they said they didn't do it anymore b/c it was now linked to breast cancer and to just go get cabbage leaves to dry them up. within a day or two mine completely dried up.

If you nurse her longer or more frequently, she will get enough. Milk works on the supply and demand line. I would nurse on one side per nursing session and express off the other side during that same session then switch for the next session. Some babies get lazy and won't nurse alot so if you really want to stick with nursing you can do it. Make sure you use a good pump that mimicks baby. The best manual that I used was the Madela Harmony, super quiet and has let down via a thumb lever for pumping.

Don't throw in the towel if you're not ready to stop. If you do want to stop then nurse her less frequently and eventually you will stop producing milk and nothing will happen to your breasts.

Lots of good wishes your way
