Hey just wondering which ED evryone thinks is the best and worst. Sharing opinions maybe interesting!

My opinion- ANOREXIA- I have had anorexic tendancies and can stick at it but it scares me to think that as soon as you start eating 'normally' you will gain weight. It scares me to think you have no energy/ feeling faint/ losing muscle.

BULIMIA- is the ED that I am suffering with, it is great for me as I have control by deciding when and what foods I want to throw up. Also staying at a stable weight and it is comforting knowing that if this ED suddenly dissapeared then my weight wouldn't really change.

Compulsive Eating- I feel lucky that I do not have this disorder I really am. I do not know much about this disorder but eating loads of food without being able to get it out of my body is my worst nightmare.

Okay, I've suffered from bulimia as well as anorexia (each off and on) for about 10 years, but have been completely "clean" for the past year. Since I have quite a bit of experience, I have to correct your assumptions about if you quit being bulimic you would not gain weight. You are completely mistaken--when you throw up you are still robbing your body of the calories that it needs...so your metabolism gets all out of whack. Therefore, when you start eating normally again and NOT throwing up, you DO gain weight initially because your body isn't used to having a normal amount of calories each day (so it stores them up as fat in anticipation of not getting any more calories soon). I don't want to encourage you to continue throwing up, but you need to think logically about the consequences of what you're doing to your body. Regardless of if you never put the calories in your stomach or if you put them in but throw them up, your body still goes into starvation mode.
