I am a semi-part time working mom, and need to keep and get the children learning through the summer, we buy the workbooks for pre-school and kingergarten. Any other suggestions to have fun and keep them learning? I've been having a hard time with my 5 year old playing the computer too much....(yucky arcade games not learning ones!) I've researched home schooling, but have mostly found help for older kids, not my age kids. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Coffee Mom

Since you have the time, teach them what those lil' guys should be learning: abc's, 1-2-3's, colors, shapes, tieing shoes, buttoning clothing, conversation, love, etc. And as far as the computer, you are the parent...you should be able to control how much he is playing and what he is playing. You will have a hard time teaching if you do not even have good adult and parenting skills.

homeschooling young children is easy, just provide them with the oppertunity to learn, surround them with educational toys, books, games and fun stuff they can take apart and put back together and play with them read to them and be ready to answer "why" 3 million times! as far as the computer games go there is a VERY easy solution to that...its called a power button!!!!

i like to say "create a smart enviorment for your children" meaning get rid of the mindless distractions...tv video games and violent toys and surround them with educational things AND interact with them!!!

check out www.starfall.com

It's a great reading website. My girls are 4 1/2 and love it. I have been searching for the same thing. Noggin and NickJr are ok every now and then but I was also looking for something better. My daughter's preschool teacher gave me another website which supposedly sells great educational software at a great price. I haven't checked it out yet, but it's

www.smart-e-store.com

We try a little bit of everything with our girls and kind of have to get them in the right mood as well.
