My daughter is my special little angel. She was born at 30 weeks and weighed 2lbs 3oz. At 2 weeks old she got NEC and went to emergency surgery and then a week later was diagnosed with severe PVL. She is doing well now. The doctors keep telling me severe CP and mental retardation will eventually be the problems. I don’t pay much attention to them. So far we see a PT once a week to work on the muscle tone. I have no one to talk to that understands. My daughter is so temperamental and such a mommy’s girl. I have no break and no friends. I need some advice- a friend- email at [email protected]

My son Lucas has pvl, resolved hydrocephalus and had brain bleeds at birth. We were told the same thing about severe mental retardation and severe cp. He is now almost 4 years old and he is a walking talking miracle. He seems as normal as his twin brother. Listen to your doctors but don't take their word as gospel because they DON'T know everything and they especially don't know the power of a mothers love!!!

I listen to the docs when it comes to her health but not her out come in life. She is already doing things that they said that she wouldn't. So Eileen how did you deal with everything. Christina's dad works so hard and is gone alot so I can stay at home with her and he is my friend. I have no one else to talk to. Family does not understand. It makes it worse trying to talk to them. I am better off not. Christina is my little angel. She amazes me everyday. I just wish that I had a friend.
