I have a good friend that just found out during her ultrasound that she is having a boy and that he has a cleft pallet. While I feel terrible for her and want to support her, I am not sure how. I have a baby girl that does not have any issues and I feel bad that her baby will. Any suggestions on how to help support my friend. This is her first baby and she is very upset. While I have tried to talk to her, I have never been through it myself and it is a lot easier to say, everything will be okay, when it is not you. Any advice would be appreciated.

my 7 year old was born with a healed cleft pallet. The doctors never even noticed. I after he was born I showed the doc that he had a black bump on the roof of his mouth. They said if it doen't bother him, it doesn't bother them. Now, at 7, his dentist took exrays and said it was a cleft palate that healed. That is the least of his problems (he has Lenz Microphthamia Syndrome) they sometimes take care of themselves, there is a program called Early Interventions in most counties and support groups for families if it is severe.
