Hello everyone, my name is Carly Monroe and I am currently a student at Southeastern Illinois College. I decided to change my major to Early Childhood Education this year and along with doing that I have been taking a class called “Students With Special Needs” For our weekly assignment for this week my instructor has required the class to enter into a chat room and speak with some people whose families have children with disabilities. As a mother myself and working with children with special needs, I always wondered how it was like dealing with the children when they were first born. Were you nervous, scared, and were there special methods or precautions you had to take with your child? Also do you find that the school your child attends works well with you and your child in helping your child with all their needs and help them develop how they should?
I would love to hear from you all and learn from you so I can better understand and make sure to help in the best way I can when I become a teacher.
Thank you,
Carly Monroe
