I have been posting on this site for awhile and I promised to update you ladies on the outcome of our birth. We had a positie triple screen result for Down Syndrome. 1 in 72 to be exact. After 3 level 2 us our risk was increased to 1 in 16. We chose not to do amnio for we would keep our little one no matter what.

Brandon Robert was born on December 7th and he does not have Down Syndrome. His pyelectasis of the the kidney has cleared up. He does , however, have a tiny heart murmor but the Dr.'s aren't too worried about it for it is that small. He does have a clubbed foot and we have already begun casting for that. The prognosis is great for clubbed foor is 100% correctable.

I hope this helps some of you out there who had the same worries as I did. Keep your heads up and just know that most of the time, odds are in your favor that your child will be healthy.

If anyone has any questions and wants to contact me feel free for it is easier for me to check my email thatn it is to get on the discussion boards. I will be checking the boards periodically.

Thank you so much for posting your success story.... I am currently 26 weeks pregnancy and was told that our baby had 2 soft markers for Down's at my 20 week ultrasound (pylectasis of one kidney and an echogenic focus on the heart).... My blood test / quad screen results were negative, so the ultrasound was a bit of a shock. I decided to decline amnio (not worth the risk of miscarriage). I enjoyed my first pregnancy so much (my daughter is 2 1/2) and the uncertainty this time around has been very tough. We're just looking forward to our next level 2 ultrasound at 28 weeks to see if either of the markers have cleared.

It is so nice and reassuring to hear such a happy outcome... congratulations on the birth of your son!
