I have a 13 year old daughter with severe CP and mental retardation, I had a normal pregnancy, did not drink or smoke, and everything was normal with my preganancy. This was just an act of God, but everyone alway tell me God gives his angel to all of his special people in the world. My daughter means the world to me, and I love caring for her on a daily basis. She does go to school, so I do get a little break during the day. But I am bored to stitches, I need so kind of adult conversation, hubby is at work and I am all alone. I see alot of you all have younger kids with CP so maybe you have questions, I will definetly be happy to answer.

We have a 22 year old son with developmental disabilities; he is moderately retarded; severe speech delayed; significant fine and gross motor skill delayed. Like you, my pregnancy was fairly normal aside from morning sickness, and I've never been told what caused our son's challenges.

Our son graduated from a local school for children with special needs last year and now attends a day hab program run and owned by Heritage Christian Services. Along with a community program for adults with special needs, he also goes to a group-home type respite facility owned by Heritage Christian Services. I agree being the primary care provider is both challenging and rewarding. Our son is so appreciative and loving. I work part time at Eastman Kodak and I recently began a part time internet home-based business; which keeps me "in the loop". Have you thought about becoming involved in something to relieve some of the boredom? It sounds like you have a lot to give! :)
