I just got a new promotion at my job, which is fabulous. I feel pretty good about it, but it means i'll have to work longer hours and travel more. This means I'll be away from my 2 year old daughter, and my husband. I feel like i'm abandoning them a little bit, just to further my career. Should I still take the promotion, or should I spend more time at home?

I had the same decision recently. Ask yourself the following questions.

Do you want any other children soon? How much extra money would you earn and how much do you need it? How much does it matter to you to have a successful career? Will the opportunity be there in future for you? How much will it matter to you if you miss the time with your husband and child? Will the longer hours be a permanent thing or just while you get started?

It is your decision at the end of the day. I decided to leave the promotion for another time and stayed in my old job. I knew it was right because we wanted to have more children sooner and I would have to wait in the new job at least a year. It was very difficult though and it was the job of my dreams. You will know deep down what you want, but it is very difficult.
