I have a 17 year old daughter who is often mistaken for being my younger daughter (who is just 14), because of the ADHD and the 'immaturity' etc. that results. She is also seemingly incapable of so many things at home, yet holds down 2 part time jobs where the employers LOVE her (go figure!) so these kids CAN succeed and learn skills, there just needs to be more motivation than there would need to be for the "normal, average" teen. We would not be able to survive in our family without concerta and I have NO guilt for having my daughter on it. I breastfed all my three kids, none of them are vaccinated, and I'm TOTALLY not a drug user (antibiotics, or otherwise) and yet I recognize the NEED for concerta in my daughter (and OUR) lives! It has made a huge difference in her being able to focus, handle age-appropriate things better, succeed more socially (although she is still impulsive, can be inappropriate and so on), and also her aggression and mood swings are SOOO much better, as is her treatment of her siblings. Honestly, to heck with what your extended family thinks - they don't have to parent your daughter, or LIVE with her, YOU do!!!!! And besides, ultimately, if she doesn't succeed (at school, OR at home) that is a high price to pay ... much higher than the worry about her being on meds (that have been studied for over 50 years and have been proven safe). You need to survive (and THRIVE) as a family, and your daughter needs the same. If she needs to be on meds, then so be it (just my opinion). All the best to you! ↑ |

Hi there i am darren with ADHD the curse lol.
i have worked hard and i am trying to get a website to gether to help people with children and couples etc dealing with ADD/ADHD.
It can be so difficult sometimes for you and her.
i have been diagnosed 11 years and have many trys at different ways to control add/adhd every child is different i am now married and have kids myself.
so i have to keep control of myself it hasnt gone like a was promised years ago.
so i have put a diet in place to keep me calm 13 week old and 7 year old gets difficult as you may know i know my diet works.
i use it every day.
in the morning cerial like shreddies no sugar on top.
or scrambled egg and beans.
and omega 3 tablet and some protien.
dinner i have soup.
and tea is fish or chicken no potatoes. or for kids fish fingers etc loads of veggies.
i do not know if this will work for you but my mum and i talk alot about add/adhd and i really want to help others like myself my mum and dad.
ritalin i have used i have also used concertina it was hard on concertina i went to hospital 3 times with blood clots but my mums view is using a diet and also tablets if at school and needs to concentrate i have not been on tablets for 6 years.
but if you reccon your daughter needs the medication to concentrate you as a mum will naturaly notice and know the differences.
your family connexion is good but please rember your daughter comes first does she need it to make school better for her.
exersise is also good for her..
try new things try routines and laugh and giggle there only young once so be girly with your child.
i was always relaxed when laughing.
