Hope this piece of information is helpful to somebody.
Are you aware that once your child has been diagnosed with ADHD you are as a carer entitled to a disability and a carers allowance. I live in the UK so I am not sure if this is the same in other countries.
Please know that you are not made aware of this when you see your consultant. I found out by word of mouth.
We now recieve a fair amount each week in benefits and our child tax credit has also increased.

hi there i was claiming dla but it got stopped cos the junior school told them my son was normal....and all becoz of this hey tell me that im intitled to nothig i have appealed servale times but nothing doing...he has now been dignosied with depression as well as adhd.....is there ne tips u cld give me to help mewith this matter ↑

hi, i tried for disability allowance (by the advice of my health visitor) and i got refused, i was then advised to appeal and i still got refused..so can u advise me..i did try and email u on the address u hav supplied but my msn account would not send it cos it did recognise ur address and i am computer dump, thanxs wendy ↑

HI I APPLIED FOR DLA BUT GOT REFUSED BECAUSE OF WHAT THE SCHOOL PUT ON THE FORM. I PUT IN FOR AN APPEAL WITH ANOTHER LETTER FROM THE SCHOOL AND ONE FROM MY FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER WHO I GOT THROUGH SELF REFERAL TO SOCIAL SERVICESI THEN GOT IT BEFORE IT GOT TO THE APPEAL. ↑

Do you know if this disability allowance is just for kids with adhd or can parents of kids with odd or anything else qualify for it as well?
My son has been diagnosed with odd but not formally diagnosed with adhd yet. We are going to see a new doctor in May and then I am going to have him re-evaluated to find out if he thinks he does in fact have adhd. He is showing signs of adhd and ocd as well. ↑

i am a mother of 3 my first child of 11years old was diagnosed with adhd 2 months ago my second child of 6 years old has adhd and aspergers who recives dla my first chid has been refused dla i sent in the letter from the hospital saying he has been diagnosed with adhd along with prescriptions as he is on medication i phoned them to ask why he was refused they said in so many words the school report says that he dose not need any more supervisen than a child of his age out side school now how would they know as they go on school trips once ayear now i am gona have 2 get a letter from his teacher saying he dose need 2 b supervised on school trips as the person that filled out the form was the speical needs teacher who is not with him on school trips. claire x ↑
