My mother told me (right after my son was born) Life is too short, and not to sweat the small things in life and to pick and choose your battles. It doesn't matter if the dishes aren't put away, or if the laundry is not done. Enjoy every moment with the ones you love, because you don't know if they may be your last!

When we started talking about adoption and were discussing whether I would be a stay at home mom, my mother said to do it if at all possible, even if it makes things a little tight for a while. Now, whenever the big day comes for us, I'll get to be home soon afterward.

First, I have to agree with momof1 - pick and choose your battles (w/ dh or kids!)

But another is: don't go to bed angry, and try to start each day with fresh eyes. The act of forgiveness plays a big part in this.

Put your trust in God's hands and He will answer your prayers is the best advice I ever got.

This too shall pass... I like pick your battles and yes, the lessons learned in the home are the most important ever learned. Because the family is the basic unit of society, a stay at home mom is the most important on the planet.

My grandma always told me this. Never go to bed angry. And, always let people know what you want because they can't read your mind. I've taken both to heart and I have to say it was good advice. Tammi

My parents taught me many valuable lessons as I was growing up... All have been lifelong bits of wisdom; some of the ones I have learned to treasure the most are -

Mom- Say I love you often... you never know when you will not be able to tell someone that you love them again.

Mom- Always give others the benefit of the doubt until they prove you wrong... and remember, until *they* prove you wrong, not until *everyone else* proves them wrong.

Dad- Money won't buy happiness... happiness comes from within.

Dad- Life is what you make it!

My parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past Sunday, so they must know something about love and life... I feel honored to have their advice and example.
