I think what you are considering giving another family is a wonderful gift. Unfortunately, our physical characteristics are so different as I am 5'9" 155lbs, blonde hair and blue eyes. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a few years now without any luck. We want a baby to love and cherish more than anything in the world, but unfornately it looks like we wont be able to conceive the old fashion way. We do not have a whole lot of money, but we live comftorably so as far as compensation goes we don't have to much to actually offer all up front. I believe we hopefuly can come up with some sort of compensation plan that we both can feel ok with. I hope that doesn't completly throw you off because we are looking for some miracle.

are you serious?can you really get up to $25,000 for being an egg donor? i never knew this.

Name: Nope... | Date: Mar 23rd, 2006 1:17 PM
I've done the research -- the "average" donor (ie: not a 5'10'', attractive, white, blonde, Havard student with incredible artistic talents) will generally be compensated around 5K. Some a bit higher (if they're closer to 'extraordinary') some a bit lower (for a first time unproven donor).

Over 10K is rare, unless you're matching with someone independently, as federal regulations have guidlelines that strongly discourage agencies from compensating more than 10K unless they can prove extenuating circumstances.

I've also considered becoming an egg donor, for altruistic -- not financial reasons. While I think it's fine to be compenstated for your time and effort -- I think it's misleading to toss out a figure of $25,000 as being in the range of normal -- 99% of donors will not (and should not, IMO) receive such a high fee.

$25K is what some charge for surrgacy and I still that's steep!
Please do your research. $25K is NOT normal for egg donation fee. The most I've seen are around $5K and you can pick the donor from a list at the medical facility including pictures. If you're interested in doing this, you should contact your doctor who would perform the procedure. They can show you profiles and pictures of donors at very reasonable pricing.
