Hi Happy Mom! So what is the latest news on your call from project cuddle? Did it sound promising? I am hoping the best for you!!!! did u specify a gender or race on ur application or were u open to any and that is why it was so quick? Is it similar to an open adoption? any info about it would be appreciated :-)

Hi There,
I am still awaiting a call back - the mom was going to the doctor and they were going to meet with her again before having us talk, so they said to give them 2 weeks. The mom is only 6 months along.

In this case I think it was fast because we didn't care about the race of the child and this baby is full AA. This time we did specify gender because I already have a little boy and dh says for right now he thinks two is what he really wants, so I would really like a little girl - my family has not had a girl in 29 years!!!!!

Project cuddle only matches families, then you are on your own with the mom, agencies and attorneys - so it is up to the mom on what kind of adoption she wants.

cool :-) we just sent in our information this week but I wondered if we should have been more broad in what we "wanted" ... we specified gender (a boy) but everything else like race and health was "any" .... of course we wouldn't be disappointed if we had a girl but our first thought was wanting a boy. Keep me posted on your progress :-) I am very interested in learning as much as I can :-) Thanks for your response :-)

We have never recieved a call from project cuddle I find it amazing that thie person did so quickly as they have many waiting familes with no racial preference? Is the birthmom from your state or close by?
Best wishes on all going well.

No, she is in CA and we are in CO. I think it was because we had just sent our stuff in again and someone happened to open it knowing that a new situation was coming in. I know it is weird as I sent a packet in over a year again and never heard from them either, until I decided to apply again a few weeks ago.

They did mention that they had very few families who would consider a full AA baby, so I don't think they are really that many without a racial preference.

When its meant to be, its meant to be! I think God has a purpose and I am so glad that this baby was brought to you :-)
