A friend of mine is wanting to give her baby up for adoption, and i'm wanting to adopt the baby...i'm not sure what all I need to do and know. Also, she's not sure of whom the birth father is. Does that matter, can she still go ahead and sign her rights over to me, and is it that simple? Just her signing the rights over?

Thanks any help is needed.

You will need to get an adoption atty. and get a homestudy done and get certified with your state to adopt. The lawyer will give you all the info and paperwork on that. It also depends on what state you live in about the birthfather. Some it doesnt matter and others you have to try and fnd him.
good luck.

NO it is not that simple You must go thru a lawyer and she must notifiy any potential fathers of this child or have the lawyer handle that part for her. You need a lawyer for you and You also need a homestudy background checks etc this is costly we are talking thousands of dollars so plan accordingly and she can still not give up the child until after birth and she may change her mind after birth that happens. So be prepared just in case. Also does she have children in the care of the state? If yes that may be a problem also.
So get that lawyer or agency now. Take care

Also anyone emailing from a gmail account is almost always a SCAMMEr so beware same with almost all potential sitiatuons listed on this group. It seems to just attrack scammers. Always get proof of pregnancy thru your lawyer or agency and have them get it directly from her doctor do not accept emailed ultrasound pics as those can be altered. Best wishes
