Earlier this year, I contacted a Sav-A-Life group and talked to a lady named Melissa. I was looking to place my unborn child and really needed information.
I was raised by my grandmother and even though I have parents we do not get along very well. I have health problems and I work full time and was saving to go to college.
I was written to by this family in Mississippi, not far from me. She was very nice and encouraging. Then sometimes I would get a hateful message and I didn't know what was going on. She sent me references from her preacher, and family and friends. Her and her family seemed like good Christian people. She told me how she worked with the youth at church and how they did things with the church. As time went on I noticed something seemed off. Then I talked to her and her sister, and they told me that people didn't like the lady I was talking to and made up stories about her. So with the help of my preacher, I contacted her preacher because by then I had chosen her and her family for my son. Well, her preacher had a little different story to tell. He hadn't seen her or her family in church in years and he said he would not write a reference for her. I asked him what about the reference he had already written? He said he NEVER wrote a word to her and he had never sent me emails. I was confused, alarmed, and scared. What had I gotten myself into?
So I did what many of you have done. I put her name in google. "Janet Posey" Imagine my surprise and horror when things started popping up.
By this time I had contacted her attorney, and was sending them information on myself. I had gotten a consent from the father of my son. Even though Janet had told me I would not have to have it if I wasn't naming him on the birth certificate.
I had asked about a homestudy and she sent me a background check and pieces of the background check. She told me that she could not ever have kids again because she had a hysterectomy.
A few ladies from this board contacted me as well. I was a non-believer because Janet talks a good talk. It was weeks before the birth. I went ahead and contacted the attorney generals office in Jackson Mississippi. I sent them the contact information of Janet and Melissa. Boy was I in for a surprise!!!!!!
Janet and Melissa were the same people, the site was STOLEN, yes, STOLEN from other sites. And everyone who contacted through that site got Janet as an want-to-be adoptive parents.
I talked to a guy in Alabama that she had stolen part of his site from. Then I talked to the sheriff and the FBI who referred me to Jackson. The guy in Alabama and the preacher both contacted Jackson.
Then I contacted her attorney and told him the story. Needless to say if it wasn't for a few good people on this site I would of made the biggest mistake of my life. I have read this site where you all are going on and on about people being nosy .
But if it hadn't been for these people, I wouldn't of kept my son, and he would probably be in fostercare right now.
I was contacted from Deanna for the second time ever tonight and she asked me to come on here and give my story. So for what it is worth, here it is.
One final thing IF you have contact with "Janet Posey" please contact Jackson with the false information she is sending you. They are building a case against her. ↓

Lindy so sorry about your story but happy that it had a good ending and you kept your son. congratulations.
What names did janet Posey go by? Emails and usernames etc would be helpful for those of us looking to avoid her. ↑ |

She went by her own name when she was dealing with me. I am confused though I got a reference from a Brenda Patrick..

I know it all, We are very aware of who is in Janet's family. I don't know if the fathers have been contacted. The thing is they may be as twisted as the sister, I have no way of knowing........
I have concerned myself with the law only.......They are suppose to know the laws.......And they know what to do..... ↑ |
