Hi-I was wondering if any of you who have sent in your applications to be a rescue family, has actually been called for a possible situation.I know I read the one fmaily who adopted a baby girl around Christmas time, but nothing since.I am thinking about applying, so I would love to hear if anyone else from here has heard from them.Thank you!

We submitted ours to them a couple mos ago and got a call this month (last week) - they were reading our letter to a bmom who was in labor in the hospital. about 30mins later they called to tell us she picked the other family, so I know it does happen! Good luck!

Wow Pegg, that is great to hear that you heard from them! Hopefully you will be picked next time. What race and gender was the baby if you don't mind me asking? Thank you so much.

Remember just like the crisis pregnancy centers doctors offices etc Project cuddle does hear from many many would be adoptive familes of course they cannot help everyone. I wonder if those that have found their child thru them live in the state they are located in?
Best wishes to finding your child.

We adopted our daughter through their help. We live in Colorado and they are in CA, so they do help families everywhere. I just think that a good portion of bmoms who want open adoption want families nearby and PC is most known in CA although their services are available to women all over the country

We registered in November. We were recently contacted, our letter shared with a mother, but not chosen. The mother did choose another family. It is an easy application and it is free. It can not hurt.

Hi, you can visit www.projectcuddle.org and there is an area that gives you instructions on how you can sign up as a rescue family. Read that and mail them the application. It's very straightfoward. Best of luck to you. The more open minded you are when it comes to race, age, background, etc the more likely you are to be contacted. Joanne

kcg

After everything was all finished how much did it end up costing you. Were you able to choose open or closed adoption. Please help. I am considering giving it a try. Congrats on the baby!!!!!!!!

they pretty much set you up with the situation and its between you and the mother to figure out the closed/open thing :-) Our BM wanted it to be closed but the more her mom got to know us the more she did too :-) Now she wants open and we have received our first letter from her already!! She drew beautiful pictures for the baby :-) We have even talked about her coming to visit! She is a young girl herself (only 14) ... still a kid and loves kid things :-) We are so happy she changed her mind!

We got a loan for 8k.... that include finalization, post placement visits, the agency fee (we hired bethany christian services)... Bethany cost 4k, our finalization will cost 1200, and post placements will be 100/hour. Plane tickets and stay out there will be expensive though... our flights were expensive but we stayed with family the second half of our trip (we stayed in the hospital the first couple days). It was a great way to go! :-) We love Project Cuddle!

Are you not scared that she might change her mind and try to take the baby back someday? Thats the only reason I want a closed adoption. I have heard that if they are under 21 when they give the baby up they can take you to court and say they were not old enough to make that kind of decision and now there stable and want their child back. Is that true can they do this?

Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle, from what I understand, the only reasons that are legally valid are duress (if the mom is still on pain meds in hospital), the father didn't give informed consent, or there wasn't proper legal representation for the parents. Otherwise, I believe it's very hard to prove anyone was forced into signing the papers. Also, if a mom has an open situation, she's likely not going to come back later and change her mind because she'll see that the baby is loved and well cared for by the a-parents. I think the worst part for some moms is not knowing how their child is doing.

If they are not able to find the father so they have to do a newspaper posting. The father doesn't come when the posting is out. If he decides to come back a few years later might he be able to take the baby back? Sorry about all this we have not ever adopted before. We really want to. Obviosly we are scared of getting a baby and falling in love with it then losing it. I appreciate all the help.

Thanks,
Michelle

Once a fathers rights have been terminated he has no say in the future. When they publish for termination, they also include any John Doe that minght come forward in the future as well. In a lot of states they have the putative father registry too.

After the revocation time, it is very hard for a First-mom to get the child back.... as long as everything is done 100% legally!

Thank you, that makes me feel a little more comfortable. I think I want to try project cuddle. Do we know anyone who has success with project cuddle other than kcg? Kcg how long did it take you to get a baby through project cuddle after sending in your paperwork?

Thanks,
Michelle

after PC contacts you for a situation and you are picked it is up to you to hire an agency or attorney.... the agency we hired was bethany and the charge 4k for their part... i had a wonderful experience with them - very helpful! and even before we told them we wanted to work with them he spent a half hour on the phone with me answering questions etc. They were very helpful and so was Tim Blyde the attorney the suggested.

after we sent our paperwork in it was 2 months.... but we were open to any race, any situation (HIV, drug exposed, rape situation, no prenatal care etc) and any gender. Our daughter is hispanic, product of a rape, only had prenatal care in the ninth month and she is absolutely perfect :-) people don't know what they are missing out on ....
