Well we just got home from Childrens hospital again after another 4 day stay. He is home on a feeding tube and I am pumping for him as well he is getting high calorie formula. They are also showing concern with a cyst that is in his brain where his spinal cord attaches to the brain but they have to wait until he is a bit older to recheck for it to make sure it has not gone away on its own. If that isnt enough we are learning his kidneys arent functioning right because there is some sort of blockage from his bladder to his penis causing infections. It has been explained to me almost like reflux but instead it is in the kidney to bladder area where the urine sucks back into the kindeys from the bladder causing his bladder to get "crystalized" (only way i can describe it urine at the bottom of the bladder not allowing urine to flow out or catheters to go in. We will be talking surgical options on monday. We are just waiting for a cystic fibrosis test to come back before they proceed with other things. As his doctors say it is important to take one step at a time instead of diving in.

Shauna-

I am so sad to hear that precious London is still enduring health issues. I pray that all is resolved soon, and that he fully recovers.

My son Andrew was also tested for cystic fibrosis after he was born because it was revealed in the Birthmom's medical chart when her bloodwork was done, that she was a carrier for one of the cystic fibrosis genes.

Luckily he tested fine, he isn't even a carrier. I wish the same for London.

I pray for you and your sweet baby boy.

God bless-

Wow thats a lot on his plate.....poor baby. Are you getting help with your girls? How are you coping?

Well Julie, my church has a 23 year old girl whom is out of work staying in my spare room to help with the girls and with my house. It has been a blessing and the girls love her. I just feel horrid like they are getting none of me. My grandfather took Nadia to church with him today so I am home with the sitter London and Dakota, we are planning a quiet morning of cookie baking and then when Nadia gets home she wants to make meatball pizza so we will do that together while the sitter plays with Dakota.

Let me just say if there is ever a test in life this seems to be it and I keep asking myself if I am strong enough because there are moments that I feel so weak and dont know how I am going to do it.

I am just blessed that my church is great and that he has great doctors on his side.

Today he is 5lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long, still down from his 6 lb 6 oz birthweight.

Kind of like, 24 hour nursing care? That is great you have all that help.

Hey Shauna,
So sorry to hear the little London is going through so much. I know you must be scared- I am praying for you all that things start to get better. With his kidneys - it sounds very similar to what I had as a child- an UPJ blockage and back then the surgery was extremely large ( I have a huge ugly scar) but now with all advances in medicine they can usually fix the blockage through a scope. If this is what he has there are tremendous break throughs today. They also can detect it very early on- mine was not detected until I was about 7yrs old.
Praying all goes well- please keep us posted.

Karen, how they explain it is urine from the kidneys goes into the bladder then is sucked back into the kidneys instead of coming out as urine, the urine left in the bladder then crystalizes so to speak and causes urine problems, I know when they try to cath him the cath coils up in his penis so instead they have to stick a needle through his tummy right into his bladder to get urine. We will know more after meeting with the surgeon tommorrow who will explain the process to correct the problem at 11 am.

Man, your medical vocabulary is really rising. Too bad these weren't things that could be seen on ultrasound before his birth, so you could have at least had a heads up and knew what all he was facing. Poor guy.

Well Me2 most of his problems I am sure are from prematurity not from other issues. Yes my medical vocabulary seems to be rising but any mother will listen and take in what any doctor would tell her, especially when it is regarding her child.

Well we are off to the doctors.
