I'm corresponding with someone about a baby in germany that was a twin but the sister was adopted out. I'm planning on adopting the baby boy. The mother's name is Kelly Bertina and have been corresponding with the agency that is taking part in the adoption. I am just worried about international adoption. I don't want to spend all this money and end up at the airport without a baby in sight. if there's anyone out there that can help alleviate my fears that would be wonderful! thank you in advance!

My first question would be why are they separating the twins.
Are you sure it is a phone # in Germany? Can you locate the people in Germany? Most of the UK situations are scam so I would be leary of a Germany situation. Someone just posted the other day on here-Which usually means scam!! about adopting a baby from UK and the twin needing to be adopted.
Here is a link to what is required to adopt from Germany. Only 2 children were adopted from Germany to US in 2006.

sorry for the fairly non-descript post before... I have a little more information. I guess it's not an agency I'm dealing with...it's the mother solely who is giving the baby up and working thru and attorney over in Germany. They've requested that I pay $600 dollars just for court costs and then whatever the price is for delivery of the baby to the U.S. (airfare and escort). They've asked for a scan copy of my ID to attach to the baby and i've told them I won't pay anything until I've received papers from the court and they've agreed to do so. They said I'd have to Western Union the money which seems fairly traceable to me. I was told it would only take about a week once they have my emailed scan of my ID for the courts to ok the adoption. They also mentioned something about going to the immigration offices here locally, but they said they'd attach the child's visa to my ID/passport. Theysaid i could hire a nanny over there to escort the child or I could go over or someone from my family could go over and escort the child personally too. I've read abotu some international scams, but most of them seem to ask for thousands upon thousands of dollars, but from what little research I've done the prices they've told me seem to be fairly common in adoption in Germany. I'm just throwing this out here to see what you all might think. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

I am from Germany and as well looking for an adoption. This is a scam. In Germany you have to wait up to 10 years and it is not even sure that you get a child. On 1 child there are depending to the region 10-12 parents. Nearly unpossible to adopt; better chances in foster care. Germany is a rich country and the process of an adoption is very difficult and long. Your story is unbelievable according to our system. I am in this forum for looking for an international adoption. I really hope this would help you, sorry but this story is not true.

yes this is a scam because the same woman is wanting us to adopt that baby too. I would drop this now and not send them any money or personal information.

They sent us photos of the twins and asked us for our ids.
They told us they had to change the names of the babies to our last names on their birth certificates. This indicated illegal activity - scam from the get-go.
They asked us to go on instant messenger to finalize the details.
In the photos, the babies looked well cared for. I asked a lot of questions that they refused to answer. i spoke with an adoption attorney she told me it was a scam.

I am so glad you are worried. This sounds awfully suspicious. BE absolutely certain that you are working with ethical adoption entities that are thoroughly screening this for you and absolutely know how to do international adoption. Get a second opinion!!!!!
