I've been attending and reading this board for a couple of weeks now, and it has been a real education. I tromped on feelings unkowingly, yes I am bitter because of our failures. Sorry for feelings I tromped on, never meant to hurt anybody.I find I now spend half my time reading these boards and the other half checking out every agency and facilitator out there. Could be like with lots of things in life, one bad apple spoiled the whole lot.

I think that it is probably possible to find a bmom or pap online, but it takes alot of "investigating". I don't even know if that is the right way to say it, but I guess I want to say that everyone just has to be careful. I think that everyone has thier guard up because of the people that are scammers. If my husband and I happen to find someone online, we would definetly let our facilitator handle it.

Depends where you look and this isn't the place

My birthmom found me on surromoms............

Now I have a beautiful 2 month old son.

As long as you find someone homstudy approved, there is no risk to a PBM. Any adoptive parents should be able to share the name and contact information of their agency and/or attorney.

Best of luck.

OJ-

If you find someone interesting, just ask them if they are already homestudy approved, or at least in the process of having one completed, for starts.

Good luck.

i called my attorney today he thinks anyone can lie over a computer and say we have a homestudy

Not true; rebuttle and say OK; who performed it, and what is the contact number for the agency.

Noone is going to lie about having a completed hometudy. It can be verified in a few minutes.

If a BM called me today and wanted to match, I would ask them for proof of pregnancy; I in yurn would furnish the name, address, phone number, email address and name of the director of my agency.

It is a two way street.

I hope that makes sense.

yes but they can lie at first

Yes they can, but your attorney can verify it in less than 5 minutes.

Worth looking into.

i too have been a little skeptical, but i know that my family is what we say we are and we know what it is like to be decieved. i wish you the best and hope that you find the famiy you are looking for. as for us we will continue our search for a bmom and pray that it is successful match.

PEOPLE NEED TO PROTECT THEMSELVES

True; that is why you have a lawyer, and we have adoption agencies.

I TALKED TO AGENCIES AND THEY RELY ON BIRTHMOMS PLACING

We also found our son's birth family on-line. It can be a great resource to start with, but you still have to use the traditional routes like an agency or attorney after the initial contact to make sure everything is safe and to protect yourself.

OJ,

I believe the real deal is out there. I agree, this board has been pretty scary. I've only been here about a week and it seems pretty wild.
I think we have to trust our instincts and be smart. If you find you're interested in someone online, don't be afraid to ask the tough questions and definitely do all the research you can. The Internet can be a fantastic tool if you use it carefully.
But hey, that's just my opinion. :)
