I am looking into becoming a surrogant mother. I live in Tennessee, all the research I have found was based out of California. Anyone interested in talking about surrogancy?

Each state has there own laws on surrogacy. I can tell you 3 states that surrogacy is ILLEGAL..Arizona, Washinton DC and Michigan. There are some wonderful websites for surrogacy informatio.

1. www.surromomsonline.com
2. www.everything surrogacy.com

I would be more than happy to talk to you in depth about this. But there are alot of things to consider. Here are a few of them?

1. Do you have children?
2. How old are you? (most people want surrogates under the age of 32)
3. What are you intention with surrogacy?
4. Are you looking to before a GS (gestational surrogate) or a TS (traditional surrogate)?

I am 28, yes I do have 2 children. I would love to have more of my own, but my husband thinks we should be done. I am interested in being a surrogate where the egg is not mine. I remember reading about that, but can't remember which name that one is. I would love to stay in my own state because of my children. I put my name on some lists but they were only looking in CA and CO at the time. I appreciate all your help! How did you become a suggogate? Do you want my personal email so we can talk?

Hi Kteacher, you sound like you would like to be a gestational surrogate (that is where embryos are transferred into you and you carry them for the donating couple) It is a very generous gift to offer yourself that way and the compensation would be beneficial for you and your family.

thank you for your kind words!

kteacher, you can be a surrogate for intended parents even if they live elsewhere. When we were checking into surrogacy we found a very nice person who lives in Florida. We considered 2 different methods (she is a traditional surro) one of them flying to her for home insem the other was to mail our special packages. Of course doing gestational surro you can always be flown into the city by the couple who you match with. And then they can travel to you for the birth.

I forgot to mention, she was 30K which is out of our price range that is why we decided not to choose surrogacy only because of the expense. After you add travel, medical, attorney etc it would be closer to $40K.

Mommyinwaiting, did you give on surrogacy completly? Are you planning adoption? Where are you from? I am curious how the price works, you said she was 30K, was that her decision ontop of all expenses? Wow, that seems high to give someone a special gift..... What do others usually ask for?

momof1, my email is [email protected] I am interested in finding more lists to put my name on, as you asked before, I am 28 would like to do this if possible. I guess I need to know where to start. As one of the ladies mentioned below, how do I find interested IP's or do I need to go through agencies?

She is an experience ts I have found others on surromomsonline.com their fees range from first timers of $15K and up depending on experience. We are aiming back towards adoption if the right situation came along we would definitely consider it. And I am in California :) My hubby does not have any biological children (and I can't have anymore because of a hystorectomy)

we should talk more, you should resonsider surrogacy. My home email is [email protected]. That way you would have blood children. They can't retirieve any eggs from you can they? is that why you would use a TS?
