Hello ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. I posted this in another forum, and I wanted to post it here as well.

I want to share an experince that has affected my life. Back in 2000 there was a little girl that needed a bone marrow donor. And they had a bone marow drive to see if they could find a match. I went and was tested and I was not a match.
Well in 2004 I get a call from the American Red Cross. They told me that I was a potential match for a woman that had lukemia. How they found me is beyond me. I was one of 12 people that was a potential match. I went through more extensive testing, and I found out I was a near perfect match. 2 months later I went to the hopsital to donate my bone marrow.
During the first year, all information for both parties involoved is kept private. All I know was basic non descript info about my recepient and that she was doing well. 2 years later I receive a call from the National marrow association (they are the organization that know handles bone marrow donations) and they said that my recipient had contacted them about contacting me. I told them it was fine for them to release my info. Last week I receive a letter in the mail from the lady I donated to. And later on that night, I spoke with her on the phone. And that was the best conversation I have ever had.
I'm not writing this to glorify myself. I just want to get the word out about bone marrow donations. All you have to do to get started is have a small amount of blood taken, and they put your name on the national registry. You could help someone have a second chance at life. You never know someday you might need someone elses help to save your own. Just something to think about. Thank you for taking the time to read this ! :)

Isn't that quite a major procedure to have done...extracting bone marrow...and isn't it really painful? yikes!

What they did was go through my lower back into my pelvic bone to take the marrow. Everything was done under general anesthia (sp?) and I was in the hospital for 2 days. It was painful, but the pain didn't last long. The best way to describe it...it felt like someone had hit my lower back with a 2x4.

]Watch out for this woman as well. She is on here
]posting about scammers. But she herself is a scammer.
]I was contacted by some ip's off a group that I am in
]and they all (3 sets of parents) have been scammed by
]her. She has a contract that asks for a deposit once
]signed. Once that deposit is sent. You don't hear from
]her again. She is not a surrogate, not an ip, not even
]an egg donor. She is just a plain troublemaker. Starts
]trouble for legitimate people involved in surrogacy,
]as well as, those who are scammers. She causes trouble
]for anyone that mouths off to her. She seems to be
]connected to a lady from Alabama, they often tag-team
]their scams. ?
