#1 under no circumstances should a child, adolescent, teenager or adult be hit.

#2 I think your son would let you know when he feels uncomfortable with hugging. If there is no reason for him to feel uncomfortable by your hugs, then I'd have to say there would be no age limit. How old were you when your dad stopped hugging you ticdoc? And did were you uncomfortable?  =
