I have a 3 1/2 year old son who was diagnosed as being "on the autistic spectrum" in August of 07. He was reccomended to have 20-40 hours per week of therapy, but all I can get within a 50 mile radius is 7 1/2 hours per week. I know that what I do with him at home will possibly have a great impact on his life, but when I ask where I can get training to teach him the proper way, no one can tell me anything except to sign up for a seminar on autism that will cost over $1000. It would be worth the cost if I had it, but we just don't have financing to cover that. Can anyone out there help?

I currently have 2 sons and a baby on the way. My oldest son is now 4 and on the spectrum. I found out when he turned 2 1/2 and have been fighting for appropriate care ever since. It is a battle and just keep in mind that 7 hours of ABA is better than relying on what the schools offer so don't panic. You'll get the care down and he is still young enough for you to work that out. I am currently in an ABA based program and I can tell you that I prefer 30hrs a week over 40. What kind of therapy did you decide to participate in for the 7 hours? I wish I could go to one of those seminars as well. For me it is distance... they are usually located extremely far away from where we actually live. Where are you located? Email me anytime [email protected]
