I have a eight year old son who I love more than life but he has been dianosed as having mild Autism. We've known it for years and have done everything possible to make or son happy. He never had any behaivor problems at school until this year. The school has already moved him three times this year. He is very smart and knows more than people think. He told me that when people tell him to do things that he don't wont to do he loses control and it takes him a minute to calm down. Those are his words at eight yeares old and that is what happens. His teacher calls homme everyday. He turns over desk and refuses to do any work. He has even grawled at the principal. We go to a psychologist and he has tried two different meds on him. I just love him and don't know where to go from here. Can anyone help?

Hi my name is Kirsty and I work in a residential school for children and young adults with autism. A system we have in place for one particular boy is a reward system. First of all get a choice board made up of his favourite things i.e. a sweet, video time, computer time anything he enjoys. At the start of each day get him to choose what it is he wants to be working towards. Then throughout the school day after each activity get the teacher to reward his good behaviour by giving him a token - every time he completes an activity or displays good behaviour reward him with a token. If he has all 10 tokens when he comes home give him his reward. You could make up his 10 tokens with 10 of his favourite Walt Disney characters to make it more interesting and always try and refresh his rewards time to time to keep him attracted. I’m not saying it will work and hopefully there will be no harm in trying. Good luck. X

This is the type of information I have been looking for. My son is 4 and recently diagnosed with mild autism. He is the sweetest boy but his temper is unimaginable for a boy of 4. I am hoping this doesn't get much worse but from what I am reading on here......the storm is just getting started
