Hi my name is Kirsty and I work in a residential school for children and young adults with autism. A system we have in place for one particular boy is a reward system. First of all get a choice board made up of his favourite things i.e. a sweet, video time, computer time anything he enjoys. At the start of each day get him to choose what it is he wants to be working towards. Then throughout the school day after each activity get the teacher to reward his good behaviour by giving him a token - every time he completes an activity or displays good behaviour reward him with a token. If he has all 10 tokens when he comes home give him his reward. You could make up his 10 tokens with 10 of his favourite Walt Disney characters to make it more interesting and always try and refresh his rewards time to time to keep him attracted. I’m not saying it will work and hopefully there will be no harm in trying. Good luck. X ↑ |
This is the type of information I have been looking for. My son is 4 and recently diagnosed with mild autism. He is the sweetest boy but his temper is unimaginable for a boy of 4. I am hoping this doesn't get much worse but from what I am reading on here......the storm is just getting started ↑ |
