Hello,
My 3 1/2 y/o son has PDD-NOS and is currently attending preschool. He's beginning to become much more verbal and his communication skills are improving immensely. I still haven't been able to potty train him yet. I purchased an excellent video that he loves, and a potty chair. He hasn't tried sitting on it w/o his pants and diaper on. Would love some advice on how you potty trained your child. I'm in no hurry, and want him to be ready, but just want to know if there is anything else I can to do make this transition. I think part of the difficulty is learning this new routine.

Hi, I have a 3 1/2 year old son who does not speak hardly at all and I am potty training him. It takes a good month or two of going to the potty every couple hours and washing countless underwear and pants. My advice, be consistent, let him be naked at home if that helps him to remember, don't use pull-ups except when going out (and you don't want a mess). Try to commit to staying home as much as you can the first month to show him you are sticking to the plan. When he catches on, it will feel normal to go to the potty when he feels the urge. Also, giving a few M&Ms with each successful toilet trip works well. Good luck!
