Dear oniedabear,
Hello,
Do you have an autistic child or are you just curious?
Austism is a nerological disorder which affects many, many children and adults. The disorder is recognised on a spectrum ranging from severe to mild. There are many forms of autism all children are different, with ranging disabilities, but do share characteristics. There is no "test" for autism, rather a set of behaviors and actions which present themselves at an early age. Most children are diagnosed by age 3 however, some a lot earlier.
My son was diagnosed at 2 and half. His symptoms are no pointing, toe walking, lack of speech, fussy eater, sensory issues and cognitive problems. Some autistic children do speak and they can be diagnosed as Aspergers Syndrom. To be diagnosed with autism though, there must be deficiencies in Behaviour, Language and Social Behaviours.
There would be a web site you could find out more, so a search on google, and you'll find one.
Kind regards,
