My three-year-old boy wants a superhero party. "Great!" I thought "This will be easy. Hang up some Batman and Superman Posters et voila!" but no. Apparently, he wants his "superhero" party to be all about Paula Abdul. (?!) He says that Paula Abdul is a superhero becuase she is a judge (welcome to the minds of three-year-olds, ladies). So, any suggestions as to how I make a superhero party centered arond Paula Abdul?

Anyone? His birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I think I should probably get cracking on this...Maybe I should try and talk him out of it. Steer him in the direction of more traditional superheros, like Superman, Wonder Woman...

I think this is a very interesting party idea. Your son seems to have an interesting view of heroes in this society. I suppose Paula is a hero because of all the things she has overcome - especially that evil Corey Clark guy. I would get posters of Paula and draw a superhero cape on her. Put this up all over the place! Get superhero capes made...you could sew them yourself, or make them out of garbage bags. But Paula's name in sparkly letters. Superhero parties also need to have stuff about the hero's arch rival...perhaps this could be Simon from American Idol. Or maybe Paula's ex husband, Emilio Estevez. Play Paula's best song...Straight Up...and get the kids to dance along. Good luck!

That's a great idea! Thanks so much, Florence! I guess making Paula Abdul a hero (or heroine) isn't so hard after all.I'm not much of a sewer but I've got tonnes of garbage bags I can use for capes and my husband loves to draw/doodle, so I'll get him to "hero-fy" those Paula Abdul posters...I wonder where I can find some...

I am sorry I don't have an idea, but I just wanted to leave a comment. The ideas Florence has left for you are pretty great anyways. This is the funniest thing I have heard (especially coming form a 3 year old)! How cute he must be. After the party, you should post your journal with some pictures for us to see how it all worked out! Well, GOOD LUCK!
