i'm a new mom. my baby is a little over a month old. i usually breastfeed, but ocassionally give him formula when i'm out. his poop just started to stink all of the sudden. is this normal? how stinky should it be? should it be stinky at all? please help.

well formula is supoosed to make baby poop smell, so it could be that, lol this really isnt verry helpfull, is there anything else wrong like has it changed colour ect. my son had a bit of a stinky bum wheneva i gave him formular and when i started weaning

Included in this link is a section called "Wondering about baby poop? (yes, everyone does!)" it includes loads of links about bowel movements (colors, smells, frequency, everything). This should answer any question you may have. Also formula definitely will do it. It can be harsh on a breastfed babies system. It is a total different digestion process. Congratulations on breastfeeding you are doing an amazing thing for your precious one. Good luck and keep up the good work!

thanks guys. your answers helped. i guess i'm just a worried mom. his poop doesn't smell today. must've been the formula. :)
